Bernard Kerik is the person I hope GWB nominates for that post. I suspect Rudy could have it if he wanted it, but I suspect Rudy is going to remain a "free agent" so that he can run for either governor of NY or president. Asa Hutchinson, currently a deputy at HSD, wants the job. So if he doesn't get it, look for him to resign also.

But we can't expect the MSM to actually remember any history; they just invent it as they go along.

Well put. BTW, I commend you on your strong stomach. I couldn't bear to read anything about Jimmy Carter. The man makes my skin crawl.

Oh, I think you'd LOVE this book. It's the first book that exposes his treachery.

It's written by Steven Hayward of the American Enterprise Institute who also wrote the book The Age of Reagan: The Fall of the Old Liberal Order as well as a book on Churchill.

A Time magazine article is quoted in the book: "Some of Carter's work has taken him dangerously close to the neighborhood of what we used to call treason."

It's given me ammunition for those libs and moderates who to this day think Carter is a saint.

I really liked Asa when he was an Impeachment Manager but think he's unhappy in his current slot; I think you're right that he'll resign if he doesn't receive the bump for this position.

I think you'd like the book as it would tell us the truth about the Carter presidency which from all accounts is far worse than I had remembered or ever read about.

Perhaps I'll take you up on your recommendation and will buy the book. I read about a book a week, so am always looking for fresh material.

The tough part about presidential appointments is that there are a limited number of posts, but almost an unlimited number of people who want them.

Let me phrase this in words you can understand, "Shove it". I will post when I want and how I want, if this bothers you then don't bother to read my posts.

Since my memory isn't great, what I've been doing is reading books like this and typing notes into my Word Processing book file.

That way when the MSM tells us something I am quite sure isn't true, I can look up the facts in the books I've read and send off a letter to the editor.

I'd love to see a book section on FR devoted to this kind of thing; we just can't read all the excellent books out there :-)

Peach, that is a very smart thing to do. I think I'll begin doing the same. Very smart. Thanks for the tip. (Going to lunch now. Will check back later.)

I am not a Rudy fan for President. I would LOVE to see Zero Tolerance for Crime Rudy running DHS. He would be GREAT! I wanted to see him there or at Justice. If he gets DHS I could try to forgive the MECHA Gonzales at State.

NNNnnoooooooo Not Hutchison! I think he would have a confirmation fight on his hands. Hutch should go with "Garden" Ridge.

White House homeland security adviser Fran Townsend.

The current US News has an article about her. I'm wondering if the MSM wants her to replace Ridge... She's Janet Reno's close adviser, but claimed to be Republican and gave $2,000 to BC campaign.
