Police say woman slapped airport guard (Fargo, ND)
Bakersfield Californian ^ | 12/2/04 | AP

Posted on 12/02/2004 7:39:46 PM PST by NormsRevenge

FARGO, N.D. (AP) - A woman who objected to being frisked may be charged with assault for slapping an airport security guard's face with her boarding pass, police said.

The 48-year-old woman swatted the agent after being told she had to be patted down for repeatedly setting off metal detectors before her flight Wednesday, Lt. Tod Dahle said.

"She said if anybody was going to touch her, she was going to touch them," Dahle said. She was "just an average middle-aged person who got upset."

The woman was allowed to leave on another flight, but police plan to pursue a misdemeanor assault charge, Dahle said.

If you fly, you're asking for an anal probe. Don't fly. To hell with the airlines.

I'd bet a month's salary that while these "airport security" neo-morons were harassing this woman that at least five obvious terrosist had been waived by with no problem. At some point, the air travel industry has got to be reclaimed by sane people.

The Fargo airport has a whopping total of 4 gates. Two airlines fly out of there: United and Northwest.

I used to fly in and out of the Fargo airport fairly often. Their security folks were VERY thorough and VERY slow. This doesn't surprise me.

Before I would go thru a degradation like this I would walk.

Look, whatever you do, don't do it at the airport. Remember, these TSA folks have homes somewhere. They probably have cars. If satisfaction is needed, there will be ample opportunities for it later, elsewhere. Just get the name.

There is always the option of not flying.

I have had special screening at my local airport. They seemed to pick people on random basis. The security people were very professional, and I had no problem with it at all.

You hit the nail on the head. We're securing our airports, but leaving the rest of the country vulnerable to attack. it sure will be comforting to know that our next attack won't be from using an airplane but will be from terrorists that came across the border unchecked. We will regret it, but we'll tighten up the borders. AFTER

Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't mind them doing what they have to do to keep that airplane safe. I hope they search everybody, including me and my grandkid, if we beep. Of course, I've never been treated any way other than very professionally and never offensively.

Last time I traveled, they took from me a manicure instrument with a 1" cuticle remover. I have 14 years training in martial arts. I could have killed the inspector with my index finger.

"There is always the option of not flying"
Not for everyone. Life must go on, meetings and business happen everyday. There just needs to be common sense and sanity with screeners. With weather, overbooking, etc, flying can sometimes be a pain. Screeners with no common sense can just add to it.
On the other hand the record has been pretty good since 9-11. Where do you draw the line with who looks ok and who doesn't? On one end of the spectrum 75 year old grandmas from Sioux Falls obviously are not going to be a threat. On the other end any 23 year old male from Syria would make most anyone nervous to be on a flight with.

That's a really stupid bet. There were no hijackings today, so there were no "obvious terrorists" who boarded today, let alone five of them.

Shall I freepmail you my address to send the check?

Look at the various leviathan socialist government's solution to gun violence: Take guns away from law-abiding citizens, and let convicted criminals out of prison. There is no more glaring example that socialist governmental solutions are failures right out of the gate.

You are correct. The airlines have no control over this. I missed a connection in Seattle a few months back because two of the three crews went to lunc at the same time. Two and a half hours to clear security and ten minutes late for my flight. The airlines weren't responsible for my delay(and of course it was the last flight out), so I got to pay for an overnight stay in sunny Seattle thanks to the TSA.

I got selected for the security "fondling" a couple of weeks ago on my way home from serving overseas and fighting the war on terror. You'd think there was some way military ID's would be flagged and not get chosen randomly for this. I felt stupid standing there getting frisked with all the people standing around. There has to be a better way. Never thought of smacking them, tho. That's pretty funny.

IMO, yours was a poor anaolgy. Regarding the discussion vis-a vis airline security, the obvious commonalities among the 9-11 perps is fairly apparent, is it not? Need I explain further?

'charged with assault for slapping an airport security guard's face with her boarding pass'
...and she warned them not to touch her, and they did it anyway. Maybe the TSA needs to be charged with assault? The TSA is starting to remind of the Nazi SS goons or the KGB. Funny, how the TSA can do things to you phsyically that would get you fired in any other profession, including the police (unless you are being arrested).

Unfortunately, the screeners are low level civil service jobs, so you aren't going to attract many high potential people to fill them.
This is what the Dims wanted after 9/11. We can thank them for that too.

Hi All-

Posted by I Got The Rope:
"...I was thinking about this the other day...if someone [TSA] attempted to put their hand on my wife or daughter I would put my foot in that person's @ss!..."

That is certainly a calm and rational approach to the situation. You'll be painted as a violent crackpot, then you'll cool your heels in jail for a few days. You'll miss your trip and won't be refunded money from the carrier. The airlines are only too happy to dispose of troublemakers at the boarding gate. Good job.

The correct solution would be to drive or take the train to your destination. Photocopy your gasoline, hotel, and/or Amtrak receipts and send them to the airlines with an explanation of WHY you chose not to use them for your trip. The only thing they care about is lost revenue.

Really? You think that will work considering that the airlines have nothing to do with the TSA? Our CEO is constantly in DC trying to force changes on the TSA. The airlines and airlines employees are bigger victims than those of you that rarely fly. We are impacted by this BS every day.

In fact I just got a nice pay cut as part of a company wide wage reduction, in part caused by all this mess. Again, I repeat, the airlines are NOT THE PROBLEM HERE.
