Since you were a vegetarian at one time, can you clarify why vegetarians care more about animals than humans? Aren't most of these groups liberal and support abortion rights?

People who romanticize Nature above Man forget that she is red in tooth and claw...

As I used to tell my vegetarian friend, when he would bug me and ask "How CAN you eat those dear, sweet little animals?" -- THEY EAT EACH OTHER!

I know what you mean! My 6 pound cat couldn't have anything to eat for 24 hours before some blood tests. When I got home from work that day, I would have dropped dead on the spot from the look that cat gave me! The ride to the vet was no picnic, either!

It's not nice to name-call. My wife's a vegetarian and a DIE-HARD CONSERVATIVE to boot. I hate steak, veal, pork chops and chicken. Just because people have different tastes in food doesn't mean you can call them names.

As far as peta goes, it's a free country. Who cares if they like cows. Geez.

Vegetarian is actually an old Native American word. Roughly translated in means "poor hunter".

Is it correct to claim that an ear of corn is not quietly suffering a painful, indignant death as we cut it apart and shuck it?

There are worse fates for an ear of corn -- like being used as a toy by Janet Reno or Helen Thomas.

The people I know/knew that are animal-rights activists and vegetarians that placed animals as more important than people have some negative feelings toward human beings, that they were immoral and "bad" for subjecting the poor animals to such treatment. They feel that animals are the most innocent amongst us, that they have no voice, so they have to speak and act on their behalf and protect them. As for those that are for animal-rights but pro-abortion, their thinking is that a fetus is just a fetus, a glob of cells so to speak, not a fully realized entity. In fact, one told me that a grown pig is more worthy of life since it possesses more sentience.

Thanks for your candid response.

The argument that a fetus is a bunch of cells is an old one, and one that isn't used as much. With all the technology we have it's obvious that the fetus growing in its mother's womb is a being who feels pain. If you watch a first trimester abortion via sonogram, you'll see that the tiny baby pulls away from the suction (talk about a silent scream). In fact, at 11 weeks the fetus is completely formed, from its head down to the ten toes on its feet. The abortionist must reconstruct the infant to make sure it's entire body is out of the mother. For me, it's like we're stuck in a really bad horror film, where society permits the forcible killing of an innocent child, but rests comfortably that they haven't hurt any animals.

Yes, it is an old argument but a number of those who go by this line of thought don't view a fetus/baby as being a fully realized entity/person so long as it's still in the womb. Tho' that doesn't really explain those that are ok with late-term babies born alive after abortion that are allowed to die. Schizophrenic thinking.

Steak (and chicken and pork) is nothing more than pre-digested grass.

We're all vegans!

By eating only the fruit you don't kill the tree on which it grows, whereas you must kill that brocoli/wheat/etc

Yeah, well by eating Rocky Mountain Oysters you don't kill the ram you just eat his "fruits".

There's nothing un-Christian about treating other living creatures humanely. If you're going to eat them, they should be killed in the quickest manner possible. Thus the laws of Kosher.

Actually from what I read yesterday on FR, the abortionists' new method of reasoning, have sunk to a new low. Some are saying, yes is is a human, but who cares? What I truly believe is that the abortionists are making a ton of money, and they don't care if it's destroying lives. Their plan from the beginning was to make a fortune, controlling population, a sort of survival of the fittest. That's why they target minorities to support abortions and have them. It's not so much schizophrenic but fascist.
