Ugh, I meant to fix the wording...
If you have a fishtank with water and an rock (partially submerged, making an island), and there's an ice cube floating in it and the ice cube melts, that's a different situation from if the ice cube were sitting on the rock and melted--with the water going down into the water. Let's say you have a fishtank containing water and a rock (partially submerged, making an island). If you have an ice cube floating in the water and it then melts, that's a different situation from if the ice cube were sitting on the rock and melted--with the meltwater running down into the water.

aka...cya.
If it gets hotter it is global warming.
If it gets colder it is global warming.
And if it gets neither hotter nor colder it is global warming.
Quite a "scientific theory" global warming is.

A better term than "Global Warming" is "Climate Change"... Even the doomsayers don't claim it will be a uniform change, but that we will have more extreme weather, and that in areas, there will be cooling (and precipitation changes, too).
Not quite. The doomsayers were predicting average temperature globally going up EVERYWHERE by an absurd amount. That is no longer a tenable postion so NOW they predict "we will have more extreme weather". The skeptic, of course, quickly notes measuring "extreme" weather is significantly more difficult then say a change in temperature (non trivial in and of itself).
This is all rather besides the point though. Global warming proponents aren't particularly interested in global warming, cooling, or weather extremes. They are interested in American (and to a lesser extent European) dollars and freedoms - both of which they want to take.

...and some of of us 'ancients' will ALSO recall that it wasn't TOO terribly long ago when those same doomsayers were predicting another ice age.
It is decidedly NOT about 'cooling' or 'warming', or even 'extreme weather'. It never HAS been. It IS all about CONTROLLING people.

Articles like that rekindle my childhood dreams of colonizing other planets. Maybe it's just the remnants of the pioneer spirit, or maybe it's some strange biological imperative? Maybe it's just getting late or maybe I'm retrogressing in my old age?
