To each his own, I guess. I'm color blind, and it sucks.

This is a weird article, I admit I didn't read it all, but nevertheless I will say: Good post!

As I recall, asexual reproduction is quite the thing among amoebas and parameciums and stuff. They get so hot and bothered, they split into two, four, eight,
many amoebas, parameciums and stuff.
This is fine, but you don't have much of a social life, and everybody thinks you're pond scum.

I'm confused. Why would one "come out" as an asexual - being defined by something you aren't? If sex isn't a big deal, why identify your personhood with it? I guess it's part of a deeper need for attention.

Maybe these asexuals will change their minds when they really fall in love. Most of the people in the article seem young: in their twenties. And maybe this lack of promiscuity is a healthy direction, especially in our sex-obsessed society.
When will someone tell people that it is not the superficial experiences in this world that matter in the long run? Not sexual "thrills," not new things, not reality shows on TV. We need more emphasis on deeper, spiritual awareness, even in daily life.

Sorry, I didn't do a search. I just thought it to be so odd.

They call themselves asexual, and are coming out to parents and loved ones, declaring their asexuality to be as valid an orientation as being straight or gay. This sounds like my ex-wife!

Imagine someone who doesnt even want it and who isnt having a problem if theyre not getting it.
Theres not really anyone for them to talk to. If thats the case, then they probably don't want to talk either.
If they perceive no problem, why would there be a need to talk to someone???

At the age of 22 he has never had sex. He has never experienced sexual attraction towards another person and does not believe it will ever happen. This is a genetic defect which will not be passed on to another generation. Three cheers for Darwin!

Give me your run of the mill homosexual any day. By comparison, homosexuality is normal. These people would absolutely give me the creeps.

To think that these people managed to get to the other side of puberty without ever feeling sexual attraction is testament to something very broken upstairs.

No, I wasn't referring to this thread.
I was just playing off of Annie's last statement, i.e. this is just another outlet for people who are starved for attention, which I tend to agree with.
Though, I do think this is an issue that hasn't received the in-depth exploration that it would have otherwise gotten, had it revolved around a more harmful-but more highly praised-pattern of sexual activity that deviated from the norm.
