Maybe they should test their hormones? Or maybe some receptors in the brain that respond to hormones aren't there?
I know I felt asexual anywhere from three months to close to a year after the births of my children - very different perspective - the whole idea seemed plain silly. And then the hormones went back to normal and so did I.
On the other hand, these people aren't doing any harm, and if they don't miss it what's the problem? They don't have to come out - why tell people you are not going to have sex with that you don't have sex?
What color is their flag going to be?

This condition is advised in scriptures. That it is best not to marry, for those who can accept it, but better to marry than to burn with lust.
So in reality, these people are a very natural answer to population control. I'm glad they are coming out of the closet. I could never go there but I certainly respect their choice.

If sex isn't a big deal, why identify your personhood with it? I guess it's part of a deeper need for attention.
I had an interesting conversation with a coworker the other day that might explain why they may feel compelled to proclaim their 'asexuality.'
This woman is probably 24 yrs old, and not interested in dating. Every time she goes home for the holidays she is interrogated by her family on who she is seeing (nobody) and why she didn't bring anyone home. My friend was shocked when her dad pulled her aside and told her that they would accept her if she was a lesbian!
She isn't a lesbian, but our culture is so conditioned to believe that anyone who goes long periods without dating is either homosexual or has some other disorder. That is unfortunate, because (unless their is an undiagnosed medical reason -- i.e., endocrine dysfunction), there is nothing wrong with these people. They simply don't require companionship as much as others do. Completely their choice.
I think the asexual movement (if that is what it is) is silly, but I can see why these people would want to be accepted for who they are and just be left alone. Perhaps with this awareness "campaign," they'll get closer to their goal. Dunno.

These people have received a rare gift from God.
Those of us who have to struggle to maintain continence stand in awe of those who will never be tempted to do otherwise.

Yes, we have numerous family friends in their 40's - never married, and they rarely date. They seem quite content in other pursuits, and not the least bit lonely. The difference is, outside of being single, they don't define themselves in any terms sexual.

I for one am looking forward to the day when the concept of PRIVATE THOUGHTS is restored to our society.
I am so sick of EVERYBODY broadcasting to the world their PRIVATE SEXUAL LIVES.

"These people have received a rare gift from God."
In some cases, this is probably true. I suspect that some prominent and accomplished geniuses throughout history were asexual.
I'm trying to remember a quote I read once about Michaelangelo. He had remarked that God had denied him in some things given to most men, but instead gave him other gifts, and called him to a higher mission utilizing those gifts.

Drones?
PEDANTRY ALERT!
Actually in the beehive drones are sexual. They chase the queen on her mating flight and a few of them get to mate with her - and die in the act. The rest hang around the hive and entertain the workers, who are asexual females, until Fall when they are kicked out of the hive to freeze or starve.
I used to run 18 or so hives. Interesting stuff ...

The asexual can be somebodys husband or wife ... Their desire is to find a 'mate' with whom they can share interests and spend time with but not have any form of sexual relationship with."A wonderful 'mate'. Better to be poked in the eye with a sharp stick.

Heterosexuals, homosexuals, metrosexuals, and now vegisexuals.
