Exactly! It won't be six months after this med is released before some pinhead will be decrying the cost of modern medicine. Nevermind that a cure may have resulted from the R&D and commercial sales of the product. Either death would have been preferred, or the socialist promise of a free ride will be resurected once again.

This is great news. We're living in interesting times, aren't we?

My family has been touched by chronic myeloid leukemia TWICE. First my mom in 1980 and then my mother-in-law in 1990. We were told at M.D. Anderson that this type of leukemia skips every other generation which would put our kids at greatest risk.

Knowing there's a possible cure now gives me great hope.

Thanks for the article.

I'd give every dime I own to turn back the clock 31 years and give my dad the chance of beating leukemia with this type of drug.

That's a normal human response. It's the healthy response IMO.

Take care.

My father, aged 53, died of acute myeloblastic leukemia in 1980. At the time I remember thinking that someday there will no doubt be a cure and I wondered how I'd feel about it.

I'm delighted. Deeply wish it had been available for him, but glad for all the others who will be helped.

Now that I'm 50 myself I realize just how young 53 is.

Amen! Blessings to your Dad. I'm sure he's smiling on you for your thinking of him with such love.

Two decades ago, I had the privilege of serving on the Board of the Leukemia Society of America. At that time we were raising money for research and other help, in hopes of getting half of the people with the disease to survive at least five years. This is magnificent news.

I'm winning the battle so far with AML. Wish your dad had the stuff I have.

I'd love to see 53 again.

It's wonderful news for patients and their families who all suffer when a person becomes ill with Leukemia. The sad part is that the general public think they are going to get miracle drugs like these without having to actually pay for them. People scream about high drug prices, but they must realize that drug companies must do R &D, trials, and then if approved, all of the costs associated with the manufacturing/distribution of the product. Lump all the R & D and trials that ultimately fail into the cost of the new successful drug as well. That cost must
be spread out across the board in order to feed the new R & D and trials that the companies are always doing looking for the next billion+ club for a new drug.
