Dick Morris: Rice only one who can beat Hillary
FOX - Dick Morris

Posted on 12/09/2004 5:38:16 PM PST by SussexCountyDE

Dick Morris just predicted on Fox that the Dem '08 nominee is Hillary in a walk off. Says only R who can both get nominated (sorry Rudy)and elected is Condi Rice.

Would be interesting to see two women run for the top office. I'm sure the winner would be a woman. :) And go down in history. Would definitely be interesting.

I don't think Hilly is the Dem nominee, regardless of what she and her people have convinced people.

I don't think Rice is the only one who can beat her: frankly, I am not sure she is a good candidate.

Other GOPers who can beat Hilly, for example, are McCain and Rudy (though they won't win many polls here at FR, the country is a whole lot bigger than FR, something we should all care to remember!).

Wrong again, Dick.

There are many decent Republican men who could beat the shrew in a properly-run race.

Rudy would have a tough time getting the Republican nomination but would have a better chance of getting elected. His pro-choice views and toleratuon of gay lifestyles would be strongly attacked during the primaries.

Any generic Republican can beat Hillary.

If you think the Republican turnout was big in November (Bush at 61 million +), I'd say a Republican might take 75 million votes against Hillary in 2008.

He is crazy.

Hillary has a very unappealing personality, like Kerry.

She is savvy and cunning, and I'm not underestimating her. She could be tough. But there are lots of Republicans that can do the job, as long as they stay true to conservative principles, and provide a contrast with her opportunism and lack of principles.

I don't think Giuliani is the right guy, though. He's an excommunicated pro-choice Catholic (and they had a field day with Kerry), and his new wife makes Teresa look like Laura Bush. But he just doesn't provide much of a contrast with Hillary, in terms of moral values. He's also a New Yorker, so we can't play a regional card against Hillary if he runs.

Rice would be great, but there are other options.

Also the amount of money raised by Republicans would be astronomical -- everytime Hillary donates to a Dem candidate the Republican gets far more in donations.

Dick Morris will say anything to create a stir. He's a hack that is basically just collecting paychecks from any source that he can find before people notice that he is out of touch.

Condi isn't seasoned enough yet to run for president - maybe in 2012 or 2016. Rudy is the toughest candidate in '08. Condi would be an excellent VP.

This is BS and pretty stupid. Dick planting the seed of Rice being the only one capable of beating Hillary is Dicks' way of trying to get Republicans to lose in '08.

Dick Morris' election predictions have been pretty much off the mark lately anyway?

I know of two Dem union thugs who would vote Rice over Gore, Kerry, and Hillary Clinton.

Morris is right.

Dr. Rice is going to run in '08 - her job at Secretary of State will put her right in place whil Hillary scrambles to fight a dirty re-election campaign in '06 - a campaign that will be national in media attention, of course. Hope we can find a real dirty player to take her on and sully her.

"But there are lots of Republicans that can do the job"

I wish that were so...It takes more than integrity and backbone to beat absolute evil and conspiring MSM. It takes enough charisma and star-power. If Arnie were born here AND if he wasn't a stealth Liberal, he'd Terminate Hitlary....but he has those two little problems.....

Best bet is to beat the Libs (esp. Hitlery) down with the truth until every Conservative is a towering hero!

The fight will be in the Republican primaries. Either Hillary or Dean would capture the Dem ones.

The problem is that our strongest candidates nationally appeal very little to the hardcore Republican primary voters.

I have no doubt that Guiliani could win a national election. I don't think he can win a Republican primary battle unless nobody is contesting him. So could McCain. So could Schwarzenegger if it were possible.

There is no heir-apparent conservative. At least not yet. And I don't want to hear any objections from the TANCREDO FOR PRESIDENT!!!!!!! crowd.

Rudy could do us all a service and turn the Hildebeast out of the US Senate in 2006.

As a defeated Senator, she goes nowhere. Kerry's vice-presidential nominee (what WAS his name, anyway?) will rank higher than a defeated Clinton.

The Hildebeast's nomination and subsequent loss would mean the end of the Dumbocratic Party. I think they're eventually going to realize that and pick somebody like Bill Richardson or Evan Byah.

But it would be fun to see Shrillary and Condi in a debate; Condi would wipe the floor with her. It would definitely not be the same as Obama vs. Keys.

Anything by Morris should be banned from FR. He's a Christian hater and a ranking member of the Secular Taliban. Here's what Dick Morris wrote about Christians:

GOP should terminate the Christian right
The Hill | October 22, 2003 | Dick Morris

In the 1970s, Ronald Reagan made a pact with the Christian right, opening the anti-tax, anti-government, pro-defense GOP to the opponents of abortion rights. The coalition between economic and social conservatives animated his 1980 triumph and made the ensuing 10 years into a Republican decade. But ever since, the Republican Party has paid the price for its coalition with the advocates of bedroom regulation.

The Christian right has so alienated women that it has opened up a gender gap that often swells to more than 20 points, crippling Republican candidates. It is about time that the Republican Party realizes that the Christian right is doing to it exactly what the radical black Rainbow Coalition of Jesse Jackson did to the Democratic Party in the ’80s — making them unelectable. Their embrace is the kiss of death. It is not that the religious right is wrong. Right or wrong, it gets in the way of so much good that the Republican Party could achieve if it were not in the Christian right’s grasp.

Will the Republican Party escape from the embrace of the pro-lifers so that it can nominate candidates like Rudy Giuliani, Colin Powell and Condoleezza Rice? Likely not. Those who see each election as an opportunity to hold candidates to litmus tests on key social issues are not likely to relinquish their hold or relax their vigilance.

The fact that this way lies defeat seems not to matter. The example of Arnold Schwarzenegger will likely make no impression as they proceed to drum out of the primary anyone whose views are sufficiently centrist to permit them access to the majority of women voters in the general election.

END EXCERPT

Luckily the GOP ignored Morris and GWB went on to win by large majorities of Christian voters.

ACTION PROJECT

Tell Fox News-TV (where Morris is a commentator) that he has become a distinct liability to the preeminent conservative channel. In The Hill article (posted above), Morris attempted to marginalize social conservatives before the election, and after the election, minimized Christians huge electoral win. Should Fox employ an individual who is incapable of speaking to their audience? Comments@foxnews.com
