If the jury truly wanted to see Peterson put to death, then they would have given him LWOP in the general population of San Quintin.

Haven't you heard? There's a new sheriff in the California State House.

That's often claimed, but I have yet to hear of any recient murder there which was not gang or drug related. Its mostly a urban myth.

Now that Scott Petersen has been found guilty of the murder of Laci and Conner, and the sentence of death recommended by the jury, only one problem. The problem is, that he will probably die of old age, waiting to be executed, for the heinous crimes that he committed. What the judge needs to say is this. "Scott Petersen, you have been found guilty of the murder of your wife, Laci, and your unborn son, Conner, by a jury of your peers. That same jury recommended a sentence of death for the heinous crimes that you were found guilty of. It is the judgement of this court, that you will be put to death on your next upcoming wedding anniversary. May God have mercy on your soul, for this court will not."

Did anyone see the nutcase on O'Reilly last night?

She's writing him love letters. She's married and O'Reilly couldn't elicit a straight answer from her regarding her unusual behavior.

Maybe she can arrange conjugal visits!

On the tube last nite I saw a PI who regularly interviews Calif prisoners in connection with his work......he had heard many comments from cons anticipating encounters with peterson.......

I support the death penalty, but in this case I'd rather have seen LWOP in the general population......maybe Judge DeLuca will find reson to sentence him to LWOP. It'll be cheaper for the taxpayers, and a sooner and more miserable death, like he deserves.

Kalifornia has only put 10 brutes to sleep since reinstating the death penalty back into effect in the early 1970's (I think there's over 600 on death row). Too bad he didn't do this in Texas.

The conventional wisdom around here is that LWOP is a harsher sentence than the DP, but that's simply not true.

Just do a little research, and you'll soon find out why life on DR in San Quentin is HELL.

In the general population, he'll get to play softball, lift weights, go to the library, watch teevee...on DR he'll be in a tiny cage, surrounded by the most hardened killers this world knows. 23 hours a day in that cell, with sadistic guards doesn't equal any fun at all.

then they would have given him LWOP in the general population of San Quintin

it isn't that way anymore - Peterson would have been colocated with other prisoners with similar backgrounds.

It is an urban myth, Jeffrey and the priest were 2 out of how many thousands? I don't think their murders in prison count as part of the equation.

What really needs to happen until they inject him with a lethal substance just might bring in Amnesty International. Every day, until he dies, for 23 hours a day, while he sits in his tiny cell on death row, they should flash the grissly pictures of the remanins of Laci and Conner. Wait a minute! What am I saying? Torture him to death! Sounds good to me......

So he gets to serve 25 years before they kill him? Sounds like he got both decisions at once. :-) We need a new rule. Get the death penalty and you get a week to live. Find out later that you were actually innocent? Then we kill the prosecutor and the jury. Sound fair?

Frankly, I'm surprised by this. I never thought a California jury could be anything but touchy-feely. Maybe this is penance for OJ ...
