PORTLAND, Maine -- Erasing any potential doubts, U.S. Sen. Olympia Snowe told a Maine Public Radio call-in program that she intends to seek a third term in 2006.

"I am running for re-election," Snowe said Monday. "It's sort of early to announce all that, but people have asked me so I obviously want to make sure that people know that I do intend to run for re-election."

She would make a great character for a Stephen King novel. Agony, the next chapter of Misery. She seems innocent enough, but something is wrong, terribly wrong. On dark and stormy nights in the Senate chambers, she can be heard wailing 'Nay' to all Republican proposals. While dragging the chains of moderation through the Rotunda. Fear her, legislators, she's a woman with no political soul. {{{{{shudder}}}}}}

I'm a proud Texan . . . but if we learned anything in this past election it's that other states' elections have a profound impact on ALL OF US. I'd gladly donate to a conservative Pubbie to run against Snowe, Collins, McCain, etc.

And that's a fact!

"But an even better one is why can't we find a conservative Republican to run against her in the primary? ... "

I said that tongue in cheek.

We have enough problems in Florida keeping the greatest "give me everything generation" from bankrupting the state.

I was of the opinion that stalwart men and women would step forward and fill these needed positions. Not anymore.

I'd say let the "American experiment" denigrate, until there is no choice but to get back on track, but with the "wolves" of the world at the door we would be eaten alive.

Better than the alternative, eh?

Like death by lethal injection is better than a firing squad?

I don't care a diddle if the dems run a ressurected Joseph STALIN against her, she isn't going to win thanks to this jaded Yankee's vote.

Not that she'll ever need it, of course.

She has incumbancy for life if she wants it, and any "Republican" who wants to mount a primary challenge against her WILL be hung out to dry by their own Party, so they'd better have lots of independant resources handy.

They might as well run as a third party or independant as try to beat Snowe within the Party that she pretty much owns in this State. Heck; it worked for KING, didn't it?

Just bring LOTS of money.

And good luck!

I cannot believe she survives the primaries.

Re my #28 - The text I copied and pasted had "Democrat" crossed out.
I ain't that, but I darn sure am Conservative and proud of it, too.

Of course if a rational common - sense old style Democrat like the Senator Zell MILLER ran in Maine, I might be tempted.

Shucks; "W" is no real prize to the Conservative cause, despite what the lamestream media whines about his "extreme right-wing fanaticism" - but he ain't all that bad, I don't suppose, and he sure beat Hanoi KERRY by a country mile!

Neither O'SNOWE or COLLINS ever saw an abortion, tax, or Clinton that they didn't like, I reckon.

Maybe it's that Jack Lord hair thingy she's got going.

If she switcjed to the dems, we'd notice. Her votes on things that were close or that mattered to the GOP would be different.

We're lucky we have a RINO in Maine, a blue state.

Snowe and Collins are surely operating under the influence of a malevolent spirit. If they weren't in politics, they'd be earning a nice living on a psychic hotline. Not much difference anyway. They both look as though they would quickly revert to a more witch-like appearance. There is something about them that is rather unsettling and occultic.

Maine needs an exorcism. And I haven't even mentioned Baldacci and his ilk...

"YOO-HOOOO!!!!; Over here!"

LOL!!

"Any more of us left alive?"

I don't think so. At least the ones of us left remaining pretend to be "moderate". That keeps the hardiners from being shipped off to the re-education camps. ;)

No, like Alphonse D'Amato was better than Charlie Schumer. Like Draftdodgin Jeb Bradley is better than Dick Swett or pantywaste Charlie Bass is better than Arnie Annesson.

Like Senator Simmons would be better than Senator Dodd.

Vote for Snowe, send your dollars to the like of Coburn and Burr.
