How to drive a liberal crazy, if you want...

[With apologies -- or perhaps a tip of the hat -- to Ann Coulter]

I'll keep saying this, and maybe it will catch on (one never knows). I nominate General Franks to be the Director of Homeland Security. He is the best choice available right now, with the least amount of controversy attached.

Franks and Bremmer, certainly, but the CIA is a mess and Tenet has been there for years. I'm not one who would suggest he could've done something to prevent 9/11, but I read that when it happened he said he knew immediately bin Laden was responsible.

If that's the case, that bin Laden posed such a threat Tenet knew immediately who was responsible, then why hadn't we done more pre 9/11 to infiltrate Al Qaida? Why was our intel in the Middle East so lacking? I suspect the answer is Clinton, Clinton, Clinton ... but Tenet was still the man in the CIA.

I would have liked to view this ceremony. Both Franks and Bremer had tough jobs and performed well; I'm not sure what Tenet is doing there, I guess he took a lot of flak in his job.

I'm not sure how to do a foolproof search either. I was reading FoxNews, saw the story, then searched for it here. I was going to post it too!

Tenet is lucky he didn't work for the old Soviet KGB. He'd either be working in a Siberian work camp or dead.

If he'd been working for the KGB, maybe we'd have won the Cold War.

Tenet?!?!?!?

Great. Award the most incompetent -and worse- CIA idiot with the MoF.

Outrageous.

Nothing I'm sure to do with daddy being a former CIA head.

Again, What A Crock! They have NO shame.

" I nominate General Franks to be the Director of Homeland Security. He is the best choice available right now, with the least amount of controversy attached."

I'm sure the Democrats and the liberal media will find people to testify that they have heard General Franks use the F word on occasion or someone may have witnessed him rolling through an empty 4 way stop, at some point in his life.
General Franks has too much machismo, is too patriotic and too pro military for the Democrat's tastes.
If he's nominated, they'll trash him , his family, his reputation and his military career , as surely as the sun rises from the east.
And don't forget the fact that he grew up in Midland, Texas , as did George Bush.
Can't have too many cowboys running around DC- it makes the girly men and the manly women of the Democrat party and the liberal media-too nervous.

Do you really think it was necessary to insult the President's choices?

Can't you just disagree with Tenet without making a remark like that about the senior Bush?

It just makes you look stupid and uninformed.

There is no logic to connect decades old service to the CIA on the part of the senior Bush, to this medal.

If you hate the Bush family, fine, but try not to make yourself look petty and stupid at the same time.

Tenet was responsible for the CIA for years and the agency is broken. He and the CIA under him, missed the Indian nuke test, some bin Laden related stuff, and WMD ("slam dunk").

If this is not incompetence, what is? Furthermore assume he was an innocent bystander (an idiotic assumption, granted), what kind of signal does it send to bestow a high honor upon a guy like that? "Remain asleep at the switch, and you'll get your retirement and a MoH"?

Are the Bushes intent on rewarding every lib who attacked them (Kennedy, Elton,Tenet), at the cost of enraging a good chunk of their base? Sure looks like it.

Do you two step by any chance? If you do, think about it, somebody is always one step behind.

My comment was for sarah_f.

If you had bothered to pay attention, I made no comment of support for Tenet.

I am disgusted by sarah's comments blaming the senior Bush for it.

She is free to hate the Bush family as you are, but don't except to be able to post such stupid tripe and not have someone comment on it.

In her opinion George HW Bush used to direct the CIA and that is why Tenet got the MOF.

That's riduculous.

Then again, hatred is irrational.

Are you a Bush famiy hater also?

Take it easy, will ya? So maybe I read your post too quickly. Read mine.

This is not about hate, it's about actions that I disagree with, and actions that IMNSO are hurting the President with his supporters, and not helping with his opponents.

I think people make too much out of things.

You think everything he does will hurt his supporters.

Small minded people are the ones that are convinced that something like this will hurt his supporters.

That's not true. Real supporter are not likely to run screaming all in a tizzy for something so very minor. GET THIS, real adult supporters understand these sort of things.

We don't base our live policies or qualify or support based on something like this.

The Repbulicans are the party of adults.

If this little piddly thing that most regular people won't remember in a week, bugs you so much then perhaps your focus is off?

Bremer is un-deserving as well. He made the single most idiotic decision in phase III Iraq by firing the Iraqi army that Washington decided to spare during the war. These un-employed soldiers were willing recruits for the startup of the insurgency and we are still paying for this stupid decision now. He was also an incompetent facilitator of getting the rebuilding money out to the major cities in Iraq. Military Units in Iraq had to use their own money to get the promised projects done in their areas because Bremers CPA couldn't or wouldn't release the money. The CPA under his stewardship was a joke.
