Fox News Airs Religious Christmas Messages by Terry Phillips, correspondent
Critics are wowed and shocked that the network isn't afraid to say anything other than "Happy Holidays."
In a startling departure from the political correctness on much of network television, the Fox News Channel is running Christmas greetings with Bible verses. One references John 3:16, another displays the prediction of Christ's birth from Isaiah.
Perhaps even more surprising, critics love them. "I think they're beautifully done," said Sherry Gossett of Accuracy in Media. "I'm thinking of one I saw (which) had a painting by the Renaissance artist Botticelli, of Mary and Jesus surrounded by other figures. I think it's a lovely gesture."
As you might expect, the host of a Web site called hollywoodjesus.com was downright enthusiastic. David Bruce's group monitors movies and television. "Three cheers for Fox News," Bruce said. "What a wonderful thing to be doing at this time, when there seems to be self-imposed censorship on the 'reason for the season,' Jesus Christ."
Judging by the reaction, you might wonder why the other networks don't buck the PC trend of ignoring what we celebrate on Dec. 25. Tim Graham, at the Media Research Center, has an idea. "For some reason, in America today, being for the flag is conservative," he said. "Being for John 3:16 is conservative."
Fox News, by the way, is also running Hanukkah messages and ran spots at the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.

I heard, I saw, I was thrilled!
Fox just showed one of those ads about a half-hour ago.
They are nicely done.
I couldn't believe it. It's great (and I'm Jewish!)
We noticed this "phenomenon" on FOX. God Bless them for having the courage to stand apart from the God-less left.
It is the Judeo-Christian traditions, values, and fear of the Almighty that built this nation.
Kwaanza, Ramadan, and Pagan Solstice chats under the moon cam be celebrated by the lost who wish to do that. But they were not satisfied with that. They are trying to destroy what we have, and make it a thought-crime.
its about time someone started the trend the other direction....
all these stories about Christmas being denied back in the states makes me glad I am out here with the Army. You better believe the soldiers out here are celebrating as much as they can.....
Way to go FOX!!!!
I am fed up with the PC crowd!! Were it not for Christ, there would be no salvation and no Christmas!!!
The libs want us to believe that Christmas is about Santa Claus and shopping at Wal-Mart.
It's about the arrival of God's only Son on earth, and the gift of eternal life and salvation.
Merry Christmas, y'all!!
They look really good. Three cheers for Fox News.
Everyone at our church has noted and applauded the Fox News Christmas greetings. No wonder their ratings have soared. I predict 2005 will also be a wonderful year for Fox, the network that thinks out-of-the-PC-box.
God Bless you and your fellow soldiers, Mike!!
May each of you have a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year, and the blessings of freedom and liberty each and every day.
Thank you for all that you do!!
FNC is also airing a special on Jesus Christ this Sunday night that I look forward to seeing. Which is more than I can say for that special on the two Marys that CNN has been advertising.
It will be tremendously good PR for those businesses not afraid to buck the leftist PC agenda. Congratulations to FOX, Wal-Mart and others who stick with tradition.
I'm with on that. My best buddy of 33 years) is a Jew. And I goof on him by sending him Christmas cards. He retorts by sending us Chanukkah (sp?) cards. Our philophy is that religion is a personal option/belief/whatever. Close your eyes and pray to whomever. The Irish, English,, Isreali, Hindu, ... whatever, it's PERSONAL. I will never understand why people kill in the name of their "god." Maybe I'm just too stoooopid to understand the mind-set of these folks.
FOX is the future....
Merry Christmas to you Sir!. I wish the Admin follks would post a Christmas Greeting and card on the side bar. If I knew how to contact them I would enter the request!
Whenever ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, or the other alphabets run a special on Christ, it quickly turns into a Christianity bash fest.
They always interview liberal "scholars" from left wing groups like the Jesus Seminar. These people start out the interview OK, and then in about 2 minutes start telling people that Jesus never really rose from the dead, He never healed anyone, He really wasn't born a Jew, He never really said "Go and sin no more", etc. I am glad FOX is doing this.
Obviously Fox has not been made aware of the "separation of church and people" doctrine.
On another subject, I went to the post office for some Christmas stamps. There were two types of Christmas stamps, ornaments and Madonna and child. They also had Hanukkah and Kwanzaa stamps. I can understand Hanukkah...but Kwanzaa?
These have been some of the most beautiful Christmas greetings I ever remember seeing.
I applaud Fox News for stepping up.
Because they are animals stuck in the 12th century.
Hey this is a Christian nation. The above two examples are just that....examples of pandering to the minority. It's the same PC corrrectness that brings us Happy Holidays.

This is good. I've been afraid for a while now that Fox's obsession with "fair and balanced" was slowly making it irrelevant. But this is good.
Just damn! Kill the bad guys. I love you guys. Am trying to get on a supply chain for y'all. I'm retired, don't need the mney but want to help.
I have never been able to understand what is so "insensitive" about wishing someone a merry Christmas. I'm Christian, but if a Jewish friend wished me a happy Hanukkah, I certainly would not be offended. It's just absurd....
I've lived my whole life in New York and Los Angeles, and it's long seemed to me that it's the "Judeo" portion of "Judeo-Christian" that is most upset with Christmas. Oh yes, some atheists and neo-pagans too, but they have little influence. Certainly, I've never heard any complaints from Muslims, Buddhists, or anyone else.
This PC sensitivity is mostly directed at Jewish feelings. In Los Angeles, I see huge menorahs (no pagan symbols) popping up in front of many stores (Vons, Wild Oats) that won't put up Christian displays. When I visit New York, I see huge menorahs on city property, but no Christian displays (I think because menorahs have been classified as "cultural" symbols rather than "religious.")
So I don't think it's "fear of the Almighty" or fear of "Judeo-Christian values" that's silencing Christmas. It's fear of offending Jewish sensitivities.
Why might so many Jews be offended by Christmas? I think it's because they fear their kids will feel left out, or picked on for not celebrating it, or worse, may want to join in Christmas celebrations. (I've even read or heard some Jews voice such fears -- it's analogous to many Jews' fears of The Passion.).
That seems to be changing, as more Jews come out publically for Christmas (Dennis Prager, Michael Medved, and David Horowitz notably among them). Probably partly because The Passion didn't result in the feared pogroms; and partly because Jews increasingly perceive religious (pro-Christmas) conservatives as being friendlier to Israel than are secular liberals. And also partly because menorahs are now so pervasive, Jewish kids needn't feel left out come December.
"I couldn't believe it. It's great (and I'm Jewish!)"
I appreciate your comment. I think it's ok to acknowledge the beauty of the Christmas season even if one isn't a Christian.
My mom grew up in Chicago, in a very Jewish neighborhood in the 1930s and 1940s. She tells me that all, I mean all, the kids at school participated in the Christmas programs. The Jewish kids donned robes and participated with all the other kids. The Jewish moms would come to the performances and were thrilled to see their children in the Christmas productions. Nobody was offended. No lawsuits drawn up. No proselytizing. Just appreciating and enjoying the holiday.
The Jewish kids always had ample time for their special holiday celebrations and were released from school to attend their religious classes. Again, nobody was offended or angry over this.
All the litigation over Christmas celebrations and decorations is so grievous. We can't legally protect people from "offense".
If it hasn't already been done, it must be time for a "documentary" to emerge showing Jesus to have been homosexual.
I don't know if this was real or a dream, but I thought I saw a TV ad yesterday showing a convoy of Coca Cola trucks zooming here and there to Merry Christmas music. It struck me as uncharacteristic regarding trends the last few years.
Did you see the one..the parable of a CHristmas Carol.where Steve Ducey says he's NOT going Atlanta..he's staying at Fox..
Here is the info to contact them and thank them. Also to encourage more of the same.

Actually, they're doing a whole series of those, and it's a Fox version of 'It's a Wonderful Life' with Doocy in the Jimmy Stewart role.
And yes, I did see John Gibson doing his 'media' Mr. Potter.
Obviously, the Fox Folks are having a good time during the holidays!
The Foz folks are having a "in you face" good time this Christmas season! Merry Christmas all!
The Fox folks are having a "in you face" good time this Christmas season! Merry Christmas all!
Fox News, by the way, is also running Hanukkah messages and ran spots at the end of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan.
Can live without the Ramadan messages.
The only problem is they are sandwiched between a "Cialis" Ad and "Bob".....
Loses a little there.....(no pun intended)
NeverGore :^)
It's not just the god-less left; I heard one dim-bulb say to another dim-bulb "happy holidays" last Saturday.
The left needs dim-bulbs, of course.
Unto us a Child is born unto us a Son is given and His name shall be called Wonderful Counseler,The Mighty God,The Everlasting Father,The Prince of Peace.
Merry Christmas to you as well!!<><
If not for Christ's coming, we would still fear death as either the ultimate end or the great, unknown, shadowy realm of the dead, and not a place where "eye has not seen, ear has not heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him."
We are so blessed to live in the time after Christ's coming.
Just sent to viewerservices@foxnews.com:
To Whom it May Concern:
Thank you for having the courage and conviction to recognize Christmas and Hanukkah by name and symbol rather than with a generic "Happy Holidays."
Merry Christmas and Happy Hanukkah to all of you at FOX.
Sincerely,
XXXXX and XXXXXX
Way to go FNC!
Fox is the best. I watch it all the time.
Merry Christmas to you all
They are also running a general Happy Holidays/Season's Greetings with no religious message. The shock of of it all!
Only in this day and age, could the fact someone uses Bible passages and Christ in a Christmas message, and ITS NEWS!!!
The ads are great, very well done, and as you read along, you rememnber the Reason for the Season.
Not only that, but they're {GASP!} playing Christian Christmas carols in the DFAC and PX, there's an angel on the Christmas tree in the DFAC and banners that say "Merry Christmas," not some PC garbage like "Happy Holidays."
That is the way it was for me in Montreal in the 40's and 50's. If, being Jewish, we felt a bit strange, and we rarely did, it was no worse than for Protestants in that predominately Catholic society. Funny, I don't remember ever hearing a religious slur until my late teens, either.
Y'know, I think I felt then the same way I do today. Really, we are all seekers. Nobody really knows the answers to the big questions: why we are here, is there a God, and all of that. We just have our beliefs and theories, that's all. Anyone could be right, or could be wrong. A lot of people believe in Jesus, - then and there most did, so what was the big deal with honoring and remembering him?
Nobody was offended - I don't think even Orthodox Jews were offended. They weren't afraid of the competition! Mostly all it did was raise spiritual and religious questions earlier in my life than I would have had otherwise.
My 15 year old son was a bell ringer at Walmart this past weekend. His high school history teacher has organized the event for the last 12 years. Students were offered the chance to volunteer while in his history class, and most did. It makes mre happy to know my kids' school isn't PC infected.
I tip my hat to Fox News. Right on!
