They do drive people crazy, but I DO like SGT Sam. He thinks like I do and has no trouble cutting the libs down to size.
Well i think in this day and age where people are being held accountable for their actions (not done between 1992-2000), the people who hate laws/authority are making a it a point to come out in force and accuse anyone associated with the law of double standards when they violate it. Thats why so many hate GW; he stands for whats right and so people pile on when they think they can nail him with something (which has routinely failed).
Just my opinion.
. . . and the obligatory Harley-bashing comment is entered.
;0)
I've been on a few poker runs, too, but none of the stops included bars. Heck, I'll admit to having had a beer or two over lunch and then getting back on my bike. It's not the smartest thing to do, but I wasn't intoxicated or even close to it. I've never ridden with a BAC anywhere near what this guy had, nor would I ever try. I'd sleep it off in the parking lot before I'd do that.
Not exactly, I don't think. If the laws there are anything like the laws here (Florida) then if someone is busted while intoxicated over a limit, the person(s) supplying the drink it busted as well, because they are required to not over-serve someone. Vague, but it can protect people from potential DUI related deaths.
I suspect that every "cop" in that bar was a candidate for arrest on a charge of public intoxication. If/when they drove away they would be candidates for DWI arrests. Would never happen because, by reason of professional courtesy, they have blanket immunity from arrest by other officers, even the sober ones. I wish some inquiring reporter would ask investigators in this case if they checked witnesses for intoxication and what action was taken. Laugh.
I rode a bike for 18 months and would never have even one beer before I got on. You need too many of your senses and abilities at 100% to take a chance.
Thanks for the follow up. God bless 'em.
I hadn't noticed many people are being held responsible. I think this last election proved that, otherwise Kerry and a few others would be in prison for treason.
Perhaps you are correct.
One can only hope that this process takes hold. At least this one does. ;)
For anyone wanting more info on this, here is the latest.
Hey, someone has to do it. There have been plenty of sportbike bashing comments/posts in the past. It is part of what makes these posts so entertaining. :)
I bought a 1971 Triumph 650 last night. Now I have to make room for bike number 4 in the garage. I'll have to move the bicycles to the shed.
Drinking and riding is pretty dumb.
stupid behaviors promoted by a stupid newspaper.
the austin statesman is anti-bush.
when the owners, the cox corporation of atlanta, endorsed bush in 2004 the "intellectuals" of austin almost rioted in downtown austin.
First off, I'd die before listening to that morning crew!

AMEN.
There's 90.1, 96.3, and 100.1 on our FM dials in Austin.
That they did. There were demonstrations against the Austin Pravda when they endorsed Bush during the elections this year. Of course, they were all the left-over 60s, dope smoking hippies.
Sgt. Joe Says:
Couple of punks with no respect for the law. Sad thing about it, they "knew better", or did they "know" that they were "better" than Joe Citizen? Their "brother officers" did nothing to stop them? At least these a-holes succeeded in taking themselves out.
Does the Austin PD consider the woman's death, "in the line of duty"?
Since she was engaged in a criminal act, would that void any type of insurance payment?
1. He may have been a decorated officer - BUT - he was a dum@$$ for drinking while driving and consuming that much alcohol with MS.
2. His fellow officers failed him by not hauling him off his bike when he showed signs of intoxication. They bear some of the blame. One thing that the Blue Faternity is suppose to do (one reason cops drink together) is that officers watch each others back - to the point of preventing a fellow officer from stepping on it when he is a drunken stupid horse's hind end. These guys failed in their duty to their brother officer, his wife and to the public. IMHO
"A funeral service with full honors..."
And? ...what did you expect?
A litany of his idiotic bad traits?
This crap happens all the time, especially at funeral time.
It's called respect for the dead, even the idiotic dead, it is a reality. The guy was an idiot who did idiotic things and then died. That is true. Evidently he and his wife did some good things while on the job. His epitaph will note those achievements while the undercurrent of his idiotic death will never be erased.
Yes, the stated reason was being intoxicated while serving drinks -- but the real message is clear. In my experience, you could catch 80% of the bartenders in this city drinking on the job. And as I understand it, the intoxicated while serving violation is usally a ticketable offense, not often leading to the arrest of the individual on the rare times it's enforced at all.
I believe the bartender was arrested because of the deaths of these two individuals, as part of a 'witch hunt'.
