If a person does something wrong, then accuse them only of those things and don't make things up to make it sound more sensational. Bluegrass asked reasonable questions: there is a big difference between studying an activity and endorsing it. Bluegrass was only trying to figure out if Kinsley actually participated in the acts. By Jeremiah's logic, Christian researchers that study abortion are guilty of endorsing abortion simply because they researched the subject.

Why not get back to the thread since you've had plenty of time to read what Dr. Reisman has to say about Kinsey and his methodology? What's your take on Kinsey?
Since you were remaining very neutral (kind of) but now you've had the opportunity to get education, let me and anyone else reading this thread know what your conclusion is. I'd really be interested to see where you stand on Kinsey's pedophile-derived "research".

No, I haven't had the chance yet. I've really never had an opinion on Kinsey one way or another and I admit that I have not done much research on him or his studies.
I actually don't doubt your assertions about Kinsey - I was just pointing out that it is healthy to ask questions like Bluegrass was doing rather than just accepting what someone says. I've personally witnessed pastors at big and small churches repeat urban myths or false anecdotal stories from the pulpit. They didn't mean anything dishonest by it - they just were repeating things they heard at some conference or from friends. They just never bothered to check out the validity of the claims. Singles' ministers are very bad about doing this exact same thing.
These experiences have taught me that even very honorable men can have their facts wrong so it's always a good idea to verify what they say rather than just blindly accept.

You're right, what is important is the truth. And in the case of Kinsey, he has developed a repuation as the original expert on sexual behavior. But a close examination does not support this reputation.

No dark secret whatsoever. But can you honestly say that abnormal sexual behavior should not be studied? Some of these abnormal behaviors really are psychological problems that can be treated. If the person can be brought back to normality through therapy or medication, I am all for that! Just because something is wrong doesn't mean it isn't worth researching, primarily for the goal of righting the wrong.
Under your strategy we would just say, "They have cancer? Well, I guess it's inevitable they're going to die. No sense studying it." Geez!
Actually, I haven't had time. I ended up actually having to do some work yesterday (sigh) and have been gone all day today. I'll try to get back to reading it later this weekend. Off to bed now though! : )
