That's cool. I'm still not going to buy their magazine though.

They got it last year. W deserved to win the title in 2001, but the Time editors just couldn't swallow that, so they gave the title to Rudy. With everything the President has had to endure, he deserved to win.

Person of the Year
For sharpening the debate until the choices bled, for reframing reality to match his design, for gambling his fortunes—and ours—on his faith in the power of leadership, George W. Bush is TIME's 2004 Person of the Year.

Eagles rather than doves nestle in the Oval Office Christmas tree, pinecones the size of footballs are piled around the fireplace, and the President of the United States is pretty close to lounging in Armchair One. He's wearing a blue pinstripe suit, and his shoes are shined bright enough to shave in. He is loose, lively, framing a point with his hands or extending his arm with his fingers up as though he's throwing a big idea gently across the room.

TO WORK: Bush, with his beloved dog Barney, enters the Oval Office the back way

Since 'WE' out number 'THEM' guess they decided to take advantage of an issue with the potential of giving Time huge sales numbers. Glad someone gets it...or sees the light. (Our massive numbers out here in middle America, that is.) ;o)

Kelly said Bush has changed dramatically since he was named Person of the Year in 2000 after the Supreme Court awarded him the presidency.

(sigh)... Now how long will it be before someone from Time says that Hitler was also the Man of the Year at one time?

In the earlier thread on this, I predicted it (Hitler's previous "win") would be mentioned in Time. We'll see.

He could care less if they don't like him. I like that!

Yes, it's one of the many things I admire about the man. He does not allow a desire for popularity to influence his decisions. Great, but all too rare, quality in a politician.

Time is just trying to align its self with the winning side. If I didn't see a Time magazine in the doctors waiting room occasionally, I wouldn't know it was still being printed.

"sharpening the debate until the choices bled"

He led. That made for real differences from his opponent, which gave us as voters a real choice. All the US political system has ever needed is leaders with political courage, the wisdom of its design and the underlying strength of the people themselves can do the rest. That is how we got here.

Thank you, W.

I own some AOL-Time Warner stock so I get a discount on a subscription to Time.

Now I'm glad I spent that 10 bucks to get a year subscription. Keep up the good work TIME!

The American Soldier was last years choice. They do different people every year. Usually whoever wins the presidency in an election year. If they had not chosen Bush, the left would have had a field day with it. See, everyone hates Bush. I just came from DU and they are having a hissy. Near suicidal. I say no matter how much everyone hates Time, we all ought to go buy a copy. If we buy enough copies to make a noticable difference, it will make news and it will also send a message that people like Bush and best of all, it will drive the DUmmies CRAZY! Ok so I have a mean streak!

I voted twice. Once from DU and once from FR. Everyone go over to DU and vote, too.

We should all buy one just to show them how many of us there are and then flood Time with letters to the editor taking issue with their critism of Bush.
