This is an edited repost of an article I wrote on last year's anniversary of Clinton's impeachment.
First, an excerpt from a report from that most excellent day six years ago:
A while later the first article of impeachment passed the House ! Being that we had spread out along the avenue by that time, we sought each other out to cheer the good news. We then gathered at the Swamp to inform the WH press corps that "The Constitution lives !" and that it was "a great day to be an American !"
During the next hour or so the remaining three articles were voted on. Article three was the only other one to pass. We rejoiced that the President was being called to account for perjury before a Federal grand jury and for obstructing justice. Much to their appreciation, we took care to inform the police and press as the results were announced.
A special treat today was the presence of CNN's Wolf Blitzer. Our feelings of contempt for Mr. Blitzer have increased since the day he and CNN went along with Presidential spokesman Joe Lockhart's suggestion that CNN break away from live coverage of his briefing when the subject matter got embarrassing for the White House. Mr. Blitzer caught heavy flak from Freepers at irregular intervals throughout our time there. We freeped him with calls such as "Lies of omission are still lies !", "What did Joe Lockhart tell you to say today ?", and when ABC's Sam Donaldson arrived at the swamp, "Hey Sam ! Why don't you show Wolf how a real reporter does it !"
The coup de grace was supplied by DoctorRaoul who unfurled a three foot squar (sic) banner about Mr.Blitzer that was hilariously on target. I'll leave it to him to describe it further.
Further down the thread, Doctor Raoul reported on his banner (CORRECTED FOR TYPOS):
For those of you curious about what upset Wolfie:
A 4 foot by 4 foot hot pink banner said;
CNN CAMERAMAN
Pan Down and Show
Lockhart's Arm Up
Wolf Blitzer's Butt
Working His Jaw
He stood there mad as hell and didn't know whether to you know what or go blind.

Congratulations! It was six years ago today the House of Representatives impeached President William Jefferson Clinton for perjury and obstruction of justice.
Those brave representatives survived an all-out war of political brinksmanship which included public threats of retaliation and private threats to bring down the government if Clinton was impeached.
James Carville threatened Independent Counsel Kenneth Starr with "kneecapping;" Alec Baldwin called for the murder of House Judiciary Committee Chairman Henry Hyde; George Stephanopoulos passed along the threat to employ the "Ellen Romesch defense"--a public blackmailing of Congress; Hillary Clinton said on the Today Show that those plotting against her husband "would have alot to answer for" when this was done; Paula Jones was called "trailer trash" and worse for simply seeking justice and an apology; Linda Tripp had her reputation destroyed by a conspiracy of Clinton administration officials and media operatives. Even Monica Lewinsky feared for her life and kept the infamous blue dress stained with presidue for insurance.
Thank God that people like Linda Tripp stood tall and refused to back down in their determination to see that a president of the United States could not commit felonies in office with impunity.
And thank God for people like Jim Robinson, Matt Drudge, Bob Barr, Gary Aldrich, Alan Keyes, Larry Klayman, Lucianne Goldberg, Billy Dale and all the rest who spoke at, organized and attended Free Republic's nationally televised rally supporting Clinton's impeachment on October 31, 1998.
You done good! Impeachment is forever. You can be proud that in America's hour of need, you answered the call to preserve protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America.
Amazingly Bill keeps searching foe a Legacy or should I say a Liegacy.
Wow. I will say, I didn't know half of that went on! I didn't find FR until 2002.
I see I've missed a lot.
We are still living with the aftermath of Mr. Rogan who spoke against Clintoon in the house. He was replace by Adam Schiff (D), We were also gerrimandered. Handed Mr. Brad Sherman (D), by the dems.
Take no joy in the clinton impeachment. His behavior was a black mark in Presidential history. There is no joy in administering justice. It is an awesome responsibility....a responsibility the US Senate did not take seriously enough.
Thank you for lifting my spirt this morning.

"Like every other citizen who properly invokes that jurisdiction, respondent has a right to an orderly disposition of her claims. "
Congratulations to all, especially the DC Freepers!
Did you get my card? Happy holiday!
Thanks Kristinn .. good info on this thread for those of us who were NOT FReepers and of course did NOT get our news from the right sources.
I raise a toast in cheer in this. I raise my coffee mug!
That was the beauty of the impeachment. It's part of his legacy and there's nothing Bubba can do about it. He claims he considers it a badge of honor and if you believe that he and Monica just smoked cigars.
I love the time of year clinton was impeached! He just cannot fa-la-lalala, knowing in his heart his follies were made manifest to all. He can stuff a stocking or two, but can he really rejoice and make jolly?? I say ho-ho-NO way. Happy Paying For Your Jollies Day, mr. clinton.
Stick around. The left is bound to provide many other opportunities for merriment!
What I don't understand is why he is still called President or even former President. That word impeached ought to always be said in the same breath. If it was Bush, it would be.
Tomorrow, tomorrow
Impeachment's tomorrow
And what will the buttboys say?
Impeachment will come
Tomorrow
They will talk of China
Come tomorrow
It's in store
The truth will see light
Tomorrow
There are ADFA records

Tomorrow, tomorrow
We'll see it
Tomorrow
And what will the buttboys say?
======================================================
The House managers were heroes; the senators were cowards.
Fox News Sunday mentioned the anniversary this morning. I doubt any of the rest of the morning shows did.
True. He should have been removed from the WH.
Well, he calls us all up and invites us over to watch. We were drinking a beer and having snacks, just like we were all together watching a football game. I'll never forget it. It was a little less exciting than a football game, but knowing that the former Rapist-in-chief has to wear the title of impeached made it more satisfying than any football game I've seen to date.
IMPEACHMENT BTTT
You beat me to it! GRRRR.
What a great day it was. I'll never forget the gathering in the Rose Garden where algore swore his allegiance. A day that will live infamy.
We've never had a president convicted in an impeachment trial, so we don't have a standard for that. President Nixon resigned (which Clinton should have done) rather than put the country through an impeachment trial. The honorific was never dropped for him, so I can't see it being done to Clinton.
Yep. That was the day Al Gore threw away his chance to be elected president.
Time flies, doesn't it?
Great billboard for Wolfie, BTW.
"...stained with presidue..."
LOLOLOLOL!!!
And a most joyous Impeachment Day to you too.
While there were some heroes in the House, never forget that the Senate unanimously voted to commit treason.
Most are still there today.
Later that day we walked through the Federal Triangle to the White House where we saw you in vociferous argument with some Chinese over the wholesale theft of our missile and nuke warhead secrets that occurred under the auspices of China's man Clinton.
Your face was livid red with emotion, we all the world were then in the time of great denial, it took great courage to stand and speak truth to general infamy and vile arrogant mockery.
It was a beautiful day, the sky was blue, the air was crisp. Gollum-like Lanny Davis was seen sulking through the back corriders of the Capitol.
BUMP!
But the MSM never never makes him wear that title. If we didn't already know he was impeached, we sure wouldn't get it from the press. They just totally ignore it. It should be the # 1 story today along with videos of that shameful performance from the Rat senators on the WH lawn honoring a man for lying, cheating on his wife with a child and rape and too many other crimes too numerous to mention.
...remember the pride on gore's face as he confidently swore allegiance to the bent one? ....BWHAHAHAHAHA!!! Poor dumb bas**rd never could see more than one hour into the future!

HAPPY IMPEACHMENT DAY!

I'm going right down to the drug store and buy my Holiday impeachment protective devices. :o)
I always tell my liberal friends that I agree with them that Gore should have been president, but unfortunately Clinton wouldn't resign.
Thanks for the history of FR's role in the impeachment of the Bent One.
This helps newbees like me to appreciate FR even more.
They should make it a national holiday!
From my homepage:
December 19, 1998 - A GREAT DAY TO HAVE BEEN A REPUBLICAN!!
On that day, the GOP House ensured that Wilhelm von der Schlickmeister Blythe Klintoon would have his proper place in history by making him the first elected President ever to have been impeached and, collaterally, causing Vice Perpetrator Algore to remark that Klintoon would be remembered as "one of our greatest Presidents."
The Senate's handling of the impeachment was as bad as the Democrat party's handling of Bill Clinton.
Clinton brought out the worst in people and government. People still haven't figured out that if you want to burn out a building, do it on a windy day when the tear gas won't work.
Customary dish served on Clinton Impeachment Day: PIZZA
Thanks kristinn. I am still bothered by the fact that any talking heads from the MSM attaches "first president to resign" on Nixon's name, but curiously doesn't attach "impeached former president" on Clinton's. Guess I'll have to get used to it. So typical.
Let's buy him one. Maybe he'll go away. ;-)
Just keep singing it from the rooftops:
FIRST ELECTED PRESIDENT TO BE IMPEACHED!
