How could I have disagreed with your (or anyone's) use of "Xmas" in a way you'd not have labelled "self-righteous"?

Question: Why is it wrong when a person writes "Xmas" but considered positive to write "G-d"?

To me, "G-d" is the abbreviation of a well-known blasphemy. At best. At worst, it's an attempt to be holier than God Himself by manmade, self-referential ostentations.
