“Though it is true that sometimes it is lawful to tolerate a lesser moral evil in order to avoid a greater evil or in order to promote a greater good," it is never lawful, even for the gravest reasons, to do evil that good may come of it (18)—in other words, to intend directly something which of its very nature contradicts the moral order, and which must therefore be judged unworthy of man, even though the intention is to protect or promote the welfare of an individual, of a family or of society in general.”

The Awesome Pro-Life Leadership of Many US Bishops

That's an ambiguous descriptive. It would be more instructive if they indicated what percentage of the bishops are actually unequivocally pro life. Certainly the last election proved that "many" bishops were supportive of pro-abortion politicians.

A former Roman Catholic, I believe the only thing that motivates US bishops to act is $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. Until I see the bishops having the huevos to order denial of communion to Boxer, Kennedy, Kerry ad nauseum, their words are hollow.

As an aside, our pastor (Missouri Synod Lutheran)coordinated an impressive pro-life display in a field owned by one of our members. The field was on Rte. 41 and had heavy traffic.

The response from the local Catholic church was underwhelming. They had no interest; one of the first things the RC pastor asked was "how much will it cost"

The Bishops that come to mind who spoke up regarding pro abortion politicians during the presidential election are:

Archbishop John Myers of Newark, New Jersey
Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz, of Lincoln, Nebraska
Bishop Joseph Galante of Camden, New Jersey
Archbishop Charles Chaput, O.F.M. Cap, of Denver, Colorado
Burke (St. Louis)
Vasa (Baker, Oregon)
Donohue (Atlanta)
Baker (Charleston)
Jugis (Charlotte)
Most Rev. Samuel J. Aquila, Bishop of Fargo
Arlington Diocese: Bishop Paul S. Loverde
Bishop Sheridan of Colorado Springs

any others? who came out most strongly?

It is good to keep in mind that there actually are Catholic bihops out there. Thanks for the reminder.

Maybe Santa will bring Clevelanders a new bishop or convert our current one!

Lol ... with much sympathy from another ultra liberal diocese.

Bishop Wenski several times made his position clear. However, when Kerry did come to Orlando he did receive Christ's body, blood, soul, and divinty. Despite e-mails to the diocese of Orlando by myself and the Orlando Sentinel, I never received a response and the Sentinel reported they received no comment. Then later on we find out one of the priests from that parish becomes the vocation director for the diocese. So, that was a bit disapointing.

I did however receive a reply from the parish's secretary. She basically told me to not be judgmental. Obviously, she doesn't know her scripture or catechism. We went from Padre Pio being able to look to see if a person was sincere to the crap that is going on today with anything goes according to some ill minded 'Catholics.'
