The Enemy Within
...snip...But the most troubling case of infiltration of the U.S. Army is that of Ali Mohammed, a sergeant who taught classes on the Middle East at the Special Operations Warfare School at Fort Bragg between the end of the 1980's and the mid 1990's. When he was not lecturing American soldiers on Islamic fundamentalism, Mohammed was one of Bin Laden's most trusted lieutenants, teaching terrorists the tactics he had learned at Fort Bragg in Al Qaeda's camps in Sudan and Afghanistan.....snip
City to discuss cause of blasts
By Tom Spalding
January 14, 2005
The Indianapolis Fire Department plans a 2 p.m. news conference today to explain what the agency believes was responsible for a series of underground explosions over a nine-day period in late December and early January.
Officials with Indianapolis Power & Light will also discuss the utility's progress towards inspecting electrical cables throughout the Downtown area.
"The fire department is going to discuss its findings, and IPL is going to talk about our action plan, and the details of that will be at the press conference," said Crystal Livers-Powers, a utility spokeswoman.
Three explosions since New Year's Eve have rocked parts of Downtown, although it's unclear if all three are related. Experts have speculated that the cause of the blasts was related to the three-week-long bout of snowy and rainy weather.
Since the most recent explosion last Saturday, Livers-Powers said 960 manholes Downtown have been checked, and with extra help from out-of-town crews, things are going so well they will expand the project to check all 2,095 manholes in the Mile Square.
More details will be announced later.
Well the PC is fixed and in tip-top shape now, thankfully. (I seriously can't stand TV) Speaking of, I don't know if you all have this link but http://www.tv4all.com lets you tune in to stations around the world.
That recent post on Jill's site about the 17th is very worrysome, very ominous, has 311 days been excelled by anyone? I don't want to but i'm almost taking their word for it. Not good people.
Anyhow I wont be posting as much because all I have to offer is opinion and speculation, with all of the underground blasts lately, crazy weather everywhere, i'll leave it to the pro's to continue the thread information,
Stay safe all,
Reports: Four family members slain in Jersey City
1/14/2005, 9:13 a.m. ET
The Associated Press
JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) Four family members were found slain Friday morning in their home, according to broadcast reports.
The family a mother, father and two children was discovered after relatives reported they had not heard from the family in several days.
The bodies were found bound and gagged, and their throats were slashed, according to broadcast reports.
WNBC-TV in New York reported authorities were investigating whether a former tenant, who had had a dispute with the family, was involved.
One family member told WCBS radio in New York the family was from Egypt and he couldn't imagine who would want to harm them.
Authorities could not immediately be reached for comment.
You are correct Teri....it was mentioned on the 6:00 news but not the 11:00 news. Seems to be worth mentioning to me!
Really horrific story....but I think it is well know what group has an affinity for slitting people's throats. Jersey City also seems to have a fair share of these members of the "Religion of Peace".
After much thought, I would have to agree with Teri on this one. I truly thought about reporting it, and I possibly would if I had been smart enough to actually get the plate number from the handmade tag, or the number of the real tag on the front trailer, or even the FedEx unit number. I wish I had. Next time I will.
As Teri pointed out, the larger issue may be that of missing/stolen license plates. A missing plate attracts attention (it got mine), but a stolen truck could be tagged with a plate stolen from another truck, which could make it look more "ordinary", and would therefore be far less noticeable. I will be watching for more reports of lost/stolen tags.
More in this report. Maybe they were not muslim. They had their home decorated with Christmas decorations. Interesting.
Ya' know, if they'd spend half as much time trying to change reality, as they do trying to change people's perception of reality...
Thanks for the heads-up, 4thy. I will be tuned in!
Member of Al Qaida Linked Group Caught on US-Mexico Border
Member of Al Qaida Linked Group Caught on US-Mexico Border
A man from Bangladesh was arrested last month attempting to illegally cross into the United Stats from Mexico.
Fakhrul Islam was apprehended with 13 other undocumented migrants, including a member of the Mara Salvatrucha gang, as they sought to enter the United States by crossing the Rio Grande River near Brownsville, Texas on December 4, the newspaper La Jornada reported.
The arrest has raised new concerns among US security officials about the use of the Mexican border as a transit route for terrorists entering the United States.
Mr. Islam reportedly admitted to having crossed the river illegally, according to charges presented to Border Patrol agents in Brownsville.
It's cold here, too.

Attacks by Islamists projected to continue
By Bill Gertz
THE WASHINGTON TIMES
Radical Islamic terrorists will continue to attack the United States and the world in the coming two decades and are likely to obtain and use biological weapons, according to a new intelligence report made public yesterday.
The National Intelligence Council (NIC) report, based on more than 1,000 interviews with U.S. and foreign specialists, said extremist Muslims pose the greatest danger of terror attack because their "religious zeal" has pushed them to conduct mass casualty attacks.
"The most worrisome trend has been an intensified search by some terrorist groups to obtain weapons of mass destruction," the report said. "Our greatest concern is that these groups might acquire biological agents or less likely, a nuclear device, either of which could cause mass casualties."
The report, "Mapping the Global Future," projects future threats and trends to 2020, and concludes that globalization is creating a new era of world insecurity.
"Our starting point is that we are facing a more fluid and complicated set of international alignments than any we have seen since the creation of the Western alliance system in 1949," said Robert Hutchings, NIC chairman.
The NIC is a group of forecasting intelligence analysts under CIA Director Porter J. Goss. It is not formally part of the CIA.
Mr. Hutchings told reporters at CIA headquarters that the risk of global conflict among states is low, although Islamic terrorism and the rise of China pose new challenges for the future.
The main worry is that smaller and better informed terrorist groups will resort to the use of biological weapons, the report said.
"Indeed, the bioterrorist's laboratory could well be the size of a household kitchen, and the weapon built there could be smaller than a toaster," the report said. "Terrorist use of biological agents is therefore likely, and the range of options will grow."
The report said inability to rapidly detect anthrax, smallpox and other diseases could lead to a "nightmare scenario" of a terrorist biological attack that could be carried out before authorities recognize it.
Regarding al Qaeda, the report said the group headed by Osama bin Laden will change in the coming years.
"The core al Qaeda membership probably will continue to dwindle, but other groups inspired by al Qaeda, regionally based groups, and individuals labeled simply as jihadists united by a common hatred of moderate regimes and the West are likely to conduct terrorist attacks," the report said.
Al Qaeda members trained in Afghanistan in the 1990s will dissipate and "be replaced in part by the dispersion of the experienced survivors of the conflict in Iraq."
"We expect that by 2020 al Qaeda will have been superseded by similarly inspired but more diffuse Islamic extremist groups, all of which will oppose the spread of many aspects of globalization into traditional Islamic societies."
The report said Iraq and other wars in the future could provide recruitment and training grounds for a new class of "professionalized" terrorists "for whom political violence becomes an end in itself."
The key factors that inspired international terrorism "show no signs of abating over the next 15 years," the report stated.
Terrorists will continue to use car bombs as "asymmetric weapons" but extremists also are expected to step up their use of higher-technology weapons, including advanced explosives and unmanned aerial vehicles.
As for targets, the report stated that the United States and its interests abroad will remain "prime terrorist targets," with other terrorist attacks aimed at Middle Eastern regimes and against Western Europe.
Thanks for the cross post tmp02. You beat me to it. LOL!

Hi Cindy. How are you?
I'm happy the sun is out.
Overall, reallly fine.
Thanks for asking AD.
Giggling...gotta get my coffee going to improve my mood.
Coffee always works for me. And the sun should help improve your mood.
It was a nasty morning (weather wise), still cloudy and getting cold now.
Thanks. It takes some one like you with a long history of monitoring those sites to pick out the unusual. I agree with your views on numerology. I would become more concerned if attack talk increases over the next several days.
Is it spring yet? (smiling...)

I believe many here are as frustrated as we are Indie. Little by little I'm beginning to see the feds are noticing that Al Qaeda members are using the Mexican border as an open door. Will they act quickly enough to prevent us from another major disaster? It's anyones guess! Another post here today references sweeps of illegals in a couple of locations. That's a very good start -- now hopefully they will expand it and sew up those borders or set up vast sting operations to capture and identify those entering before they are very very sternly warned not to attempt illegal entry again and returned to from whence they came.
Airtime now, their own show later? PC behavior dictates you know!
Still following TM- have not had a chance to post, but print out and read late at night. Keep up the good work, folks!
Thanks for the updates Peach. Glad you and yours are alright.
By Richard Edwards, Evening Standard 14 January 2005 Terrorists could target London with a Bali-style nightclub bombing, it is revealed today.
Senior officers at Scotland Yard say the threat is so significant they have set up intelligence teams at one popular venue. They believe West End theatres and cinemas could also be targeted by al Qaeda. Chief Superintendent Bill Tillbrook and Superintendent Chris Bradford, who head the crime and vice unit, admitted there was "grave concern of a terrorist atrocity". Mr Bradford said:
"We are terrified, really concerned that one of these locations could be targeted. "If you have 2,000 'decadent' western youngsters in a dance club on a Saturday night, drinking, drugs and sex are all in there. If some sort of organisation wants to target a location, what better place to put a bomb?" More than 200 people, including 26 Britons, died in the 2002 Bali bombing.......
Thanks for the link Vel. It sure ticks me off that Fox caved. Think I'll send 'em an email.
