Web Site Admits to Insurgent Casualties
|
CAIRO, Egypt (AP) -- A posting on an Islamic Web site Friday made a rare admission of significant casualties among insurgents fighting U.S. forces in Iraq, saying 24 guerrillas, most of them non-Iraqi Arabs, were killed in battles in Fallujah the day before.
The posting on a site known as a clearinghouse for militant Muslim statements said three hours of fighting in Fallujah on Thursday resulted in the "martyrdom" of 24 fighters from different Islamic factions, 19 of them from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, Syria and Jordan. The rest were said to be Iraqis.
Such postings often refer to large U.S. casualties. References to dead among the insurgents aren't unusual, but usually the numbers given are small.
Fallujah saw some of the heaviest fighting in weeks on Thursday, with U.S. warplanes and tanks bombarding guerrilla positions in a town already devastated by a U.S. offensive last month. At least three U.S. Marines were killed, according to the military.
See #122.
They aren't tired of war yet see #122.
They're just lucky we didn't treat Falluja like Hiroshima.
BUMP
My daughter was in Iraq from spring of 03 to spring of 04. Her experience was largely very positive, she had great respect for her leaders, and she is very proud of what she accomplished. She still feels that her desert camos are her real uniform.
I mentioned this thread to her. She commented the people of Iraq have been a conquered people many times over for the last 1400 years or so. They have NO CLUE how to be free or function independently. They are culturally acclimated to being dominated by cruel leaders. My question is, can we expect that they will learn from us?
Well, Ali Mahmood, you shouldn't have allowed your Allstate to lapse ;-)
Hey Fallujah........you wouldn't bother taking out the stinking garbage that infested your own city, so we did it for you.
You're f***ing welcome.
