At least CNNI has coverage. This morning EST, with the death toll already many thousands, the main broadcast and cable news shows stuck with interviewing their favorite politicians. Why cover one of the greatest natural disasters in modern history when you can listen to Tom Daschle?
I recognized what you were saying. People have speculated over the years that small changes in the normal Chandler's Wobble of the North Pole were caused by earthquakes, but I've never seen definitive proof. If earthquakes affect the wobble, then they do affect the earth's rotation.
Yes I lived in Sylmar. I was training at the Veterans Hospital kitchen at the time. If it had hit 90 minutes later I would have been killed. The man I relieved was killed.
FYI, Fox News this morning reported that the quake was so large it affected the earth's rotation. Like you, I'd prefer to see some data that prove it.
