In Colorado Springs, 20 years ago there used to be dinner theaters where there were tables, chairs, drinks and meals to go along with a movie. I wonder if it's still there.

While I'm sure you didn't mean this topic to go quite as far as I'm taking it, I see this in general with the youth of today (My definition of youth = 25 & under). They do not want anyone to give them any kind of constructive criticism. I have talked to teachers who have also shared with me that the kids today need constant stroking, praise and ego-massaging. They just can't tolerate any kind of negative feedback. The liberals have created this quagmire of tyrants with all the self-esteem crapola. Now, the other issue here is that these same people who can't take any kind of instructions or criticism are also the same ones who think the world revolves around them so it's "f.u." if you don't like them talking loud or letting cell phones ring or whatever. Call it the general loss of all civility. We are heading down a very slippery and very nasty and bumpy slope.

" haven't been back -AND WON'T!"

We, neither. It isn't worth the $30, minimum, to go. We bought a Sony 57" WEGA, a 5.1 DTS sound system, and a real nice DVD player. Movies cost $17 on average to buy. So far, it's been well worth every penny! It will probably be cheaper in the long run as well. The popcorn is the way I like it, the movie shows when I want it to, and no commericals. Nice, real nice. Comfy, too.

Yeah I figured! I was just pointing out that mine which I am very grateful for is not $#!T for some of these people!

There is always someone, always. I have a pair of Bose tri-port headphones that I used with my old MP3 player, and now my Ipod. They're good headphones, about $150. I couldn't find my ear buds one day so I took them to the gym, where this guy who I can only describe as the uber dork, instantly spots them, latches on to me and proceeds to do nothing but brag about his $1000+ electrostatic headphones that he has at home. He occasionally paused for air, and to tell me how pitiful my headphones were until I finally managed to get away.

I was tempted to point out that I might not have $1,000 headphones, but that I was married, and had sex at least once in my life, but I didn't. It would have just been too cruel.

I think in most places it's still illegal to shoot rude people. There isn't much to worry about on those grounds.

Lately I have found that the biggest offenders at the movies are old people. I have sat in movies, such as Spider-Man or Dare Devil, in which the entire audience is teenage boys. These boys have all been well behaved and never made a peep during the film.

But when I go to a movie in which the audience is primarily old people they will not stop talking. I have repeatedly had to shush old people in movies such as Chicago and Gods and Generals.

I have also found myself asking old people to be quiet in my local library. The librarians will chase people with cell phones out of the library but will allow these same people to hold loud conversations with others without raising any objections.

There was a guy at work talking all condescending to a friend of mine at work about his education. My friend replied along the same lines. Something like ,"Well I may not have all that education but at least I can get laid". It shut him up and everyone got a good laugh. It was a lesson he needed to learn.

Regretably, it's a lesson that a lot of people needed to learn.

Once I get out of college and have some good money to splurge on one thing, I will build myself a home projector. I have seen some home built ones that look better than even the very expensive store-bought ones. And it is a fun project for under a grand.

I don't really care about the speakers though.....not big into surround sound and all that jazz.

I get my movies for under 10 bucks at a local chain that sells used stuff.

DVD's are insanely cheap. And, they have a lot of the latest stuff, all with a guarantee that they will play without defect.

Saw my first football game on it today. This is before I pick up the HD box today. FOX down here broadcasts over the air with HD. Using the alternate input function, I could view it over the secondary antenna. Very impressive and I haven't even seen digital HD yet.

The wife is still going to insist I take her to the movies, though. ; )

What I don't hold in high regard is bad behavior. And, of late, I have found that the people misbehaving in theaters are the old people.
