The new great generation

So writes Tom Brokaw on the first page of his book, "The Greatest Generation." Who among the young today will one day write a similar tribute to the young Americans fighting in Afghanistan and Iraq? Who is the scribe to honor those who serve among the treacherous in the smoke and fire in a place where freedom is a stranger, where peril lurks for civilization?

[snip] When I look into the faces of our young veterans, I see the faces staring back at me from the photographs in Tom Brokaw's book, men caught up in the turmoil bequeathed to their generation, willing to do whatever it takes to make the world a better place. They evoke the words of Franklin D. Roosevelt: "This generation of Americans has a rendezvous with destiny."

I may be wrong but I was under the impression that the Vietnam war was fought by the Boomers. The boomers keep getting a bad rap but at least half of the boomers are decent people who did not become liberal hippies and they voted against slick willie.

We came of age when the MSM was at its strongest and it spoonfed people lies of socialism yet most of us have fought back and now the x,y,z gens have the internet. The greatest tool ever in the fight against the MSM and the fedstategov.con who have taken away most of our God given rights as they slowly boil us in water.

The older crop of the boomers fought in Vietnam. With boomers being born ~1945 thru ~1962, naturally some of them would have been too young to have served in Vietnam.

I am a boomer and during the 60's I thought I was the only conservative around. The MSM had an absolute monopoly on the information the public could hear or see. The universities surrendered to the radical leftists and the full blown assault on traditional values revved up. Today we are blessed with talk radio, cable, the internet and a generation of free thinkers are being born. However, the conservative movement will be stopped dead in its tracks if the judiciary is not changed. The key now is to win not snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

On August 19, 1942, the first commander, Maj. Gen. William C. Lee, promised his new recruits that the 101st has no history, but it has a "Rendezvous with destiny."
