Why on earth did you post this to me, instead of the people, who just can't discuss the topic?
To: DixieOklahoma
dljordan in the other PERTINENT thread said this:
"If it's a metal works business my guess is the acetylene and oxygen tanks are exploding."
That is the most logical at this point, IMHO.

Joe

Its my grandmother who lives 3 blocks from the plant.
I grew up in the area, but havent lived there in about 20 years.
Last I heard, she was being evacuated. Nothing since.

They process scrap metal and metal shavings from other factories and melt them done into big slabs of metal.

Is there any information of what caused the original explosion and whether the additional ones are chain reactions from the original one, or separate?
To: FairOpinion
Just wanted to point out your thread is languishing since it has received less posts than the original in a greater amount of time....
Original Post 78 Posts 28 Minutes
This one 68 Posts in what almost an hour.....
What will you do.....

At first the news said it may have been a 'faulty furnace'. But has backed away since then. Also, the company is reporting that there are not chemicals strong enough to cause an explosion of this magnitude.
There is a gas pipeline underneath the building. Debris is said to have caused injuries and some debris thrown as far away as 2 miles.
Currently a shopping center where police were reporting looting is now on fire due to debirs from the plant.
Original reports are at least 10 dead, currently being reported right now, no toxic chemicals known to be at the plant but you are still urged to cover windows or leave area. 5 people taken to emergency room. Channel 8 news following by ground, air and internet.

I think your pestering the AM-s was what got the other thread locked. I didn't complain to the moderator until the thread was locked. Nice try tho......
To: DixieOklahoma
AND fair Opinion just admitted to me that it was HE who alerted the Mods instead of just clicking to add the topic to Breaking News.....
Of course he still has not apologized for accusing me of contacting the Mods, which in fact he did, not I.
Well, i hope everyone is ok, from what I have read, many of these scarpyards go up due to Acetylene like dljordan referenced in the first thread.
Regards,
Joe

I read the one article where it is said that the blast was felt 30 miles away.
This was a huge explosion.

I've got to say that yes it pissed me off because i was in the middle of posting information to somebody who need it. But the bigger error isin't the person who requested that the thread be locked so that they could 'take credit' for the story, but the moderator who let it happen and locked the thread.
That being said i'm just trying to get information out to the people who need it so that they can get in touch with family in the area.

My husband was at work when this happened, you can see the warehouse DH works at on the news coverage. They were told to lock things up tight and go home, because people were looting. Husband said that there were all kinds of police cars headed for Muskogee on Highway 10..
We live 30-35 minutes from Muskogee, and it rattled our house and there was a huge boom. It knocked the glass out of the windows at DH's work, broke light bulbs, knocked things over. They went outside after the explosion, and he said there was a mushroom shaped cloud over the plant. They knew it was Yaffe.
Well, I didn't know if anyone would be interested in this, but thought I would post it anyway.
