This is it, Freepers! A Patriot's History of the United States: From Columbus' Great Discovery to the War on Terror goes on sale today!
Freepers, if you love history, and, more important, if you think that there has been a void in the telling of America's REAL history, this book is for you.
Thanks to you several Freepers who have read and commented on parts of this book. It is already the winner of February's Lysander Spooner Award for literature that advances the cause of liberty, and we are in talks with Fox and other outlets for a media blitz to take place during the official "roll out" in the second week of January. Meanwhile, if you are returning Christmas gifts and didn't get that "stocking stuffer," by all means, this is it!
I'll be happy to autograph copies if any Freeper wants to send me their copy, tell me to whom they want it inscribed or what they want it to say, and provide a postage-paid return envelope!

Dunno much about him. He appears to come from a secular humanist, multiculturalist perspective from the few snippets I read of his comments. So of course we're not better at anything. I kind of agree with him that too much hyperbole regarding our tactical victories in Iraq is nauseating. If he can't take that a step further and see that there's a larger strategy at work, then I think he's just another tie-died sandal wearer who should be surfing in Santa Cruz instead of ribbing conservative pundits. Then again, Schweikart seems the serious type, perhaps akin to VDH only with less experience. So some ribbing comes with the territory.

I found HHN and conservativenet.com from that search. Interesting stuff. I'm relatively new to online conservative activism and I'm glad to find them. Something tells me I prefer the FR format, though.

Larry Schweikart is a history professor at the University of Dayton.
Michael Allen is a professor of history and American studies at the University of Washington, Tacoma.

H-conserv is really for academics, and it runs through a (good) moderator but it lacks the fire of FR and also is VERY slow. Moreover, because it IS mostly academics, many don't want to say anything that is too controversial for being "outed" as "real" conservatives. So they tend to be a quiet bunch.
His "Modern Times" is simply the best history book ever written.
You know, my main problem with "Intellectuals" (and I use the section on Marx as required reading in my West. Civ. classes) is that PJ HIMSELF is guilty: he admitted to having a mistress all these years. So it blunts his charges of "hypocrisy" a great deal.
That's interesting -- I didn't know about that. However, it's only hypocrisy if Johnson had made a big deal out of "family values" or traditional morality. Although I cannot claim to have read all of his work, my impression is that he largely concentrates on "big picture" conservative issues, dealing in power, liberty, and the struggle of democracy with totalitarianism. I never thought of him as a "social conservative."
Well, he attacks Marx for having a "sex slave" in his basement, and overall his message is that you can't trust these peoples' views because their personal lives were hypocritical.
I know someone who left an MA program because of rampant academic marxism. During the Cold War parts of his family had been behind the iron curtain, and knowing their former plight, he felt nauseated every time his teachers would bring up some marxist concept.
