He's a Zell Miller Democrat in a GOP-trending state. That's why he has values that effectively puts him out of the mainstream of today's Democratic Party. Manchin is probably the only kind of Democrat who can win today in West Virginia.

To be fair, many politicians on both aisles have had a habit of not living up to their promises. Some lacked the power to do so, others it was by choice. The idea of a politician keeping his/her word is a foreign concept to the Washington elite.

G.W. put them into a state of shock. LOL

I would think, though, that the average person wouldn't need four years to finally start to gain a clue that this President means what he says. If your business is politics you should never underestimate your opponent, they consistently do this with G.W. IMO, their pride is the main reason they have been unable to acknowledge G.W. is a skillful politician of character that intuitively understands the electorate will respond to a person that keeps their word.

G.W. learned a lesson from his father's loss that the left has failed to learn yet. Their electorate typically votes for them unthinkingly. The Republican base isn't nearly as certain. Republicans are increasingly being made to work for their support. It wouldn't hurt the left to have to compete for their base, as it is they are weakened by lack of competition.

My dem sister (who refused to speak to me at Christmas) broke into a rage when I said that if they had run Gephardt/Lieberman they would have won. "But they're not real democrats!" She screamed. I'm afraid to suggest a Zell Miller/Hillary ticket to her for fear of corporal punishment.

There were a lot of reasons the DemonRats lost.

1) Morals / Values - and their response has been a continuing relentless attack on Christianity during this Christmas
2) Republicans were better organized at getting out the vote. Even with all of the Democrat Vote FRAUD all over the country, they still couldn't steal the election. That's what REALLY has them bothered. See Ol' man Stalin, the liberal idol, always suggested you could take a nation through "democratic" vote fraud or revolution.
3) The "Old Media" propaganda Wing of the National Socialist DNC didn't have as much influence on this election as in the past. And never will again thanks to the Internet and the explosion of alternative Conservative Information sources.
4) Demographics, FAMILIES with small children move to areas away from the big city abortion mills, porno shops, gays, and crime. All the places you find liberals congregating...

Things don't look good for the Dims... Their light bulb might be burning out...

We can hope@!

That's why he has values that effectively puts him out of the mainstream of today's Democratic Party.

When exit pollers made it clear that "values" were the issue. The Democrats knee-jerked and assumed that it was a huge number of fundamentalist Christians that turned out.

Thats wrong. They assume that only fundamentalist Christians have things they would respond to as "values". The evidence slaps them in the face with the huge vote totals AGAINST gay marriage. 70+ percent of voters are NOT Christian fundamentalists. Democrats refuse to see this because it means....that one of their beloved issues gets less than 30% support generally.

They keep using values, but as was said in "Princess Bride"...I do not think that word means what you think it means.

What they seem to be missing entirely is that "Mr. Bush" is one heck of a politician.

Something that, some years from now, may be fully appreciated by the right as well.

A gawky candidate with little to say?

That's it. Kerry was too "gawky".

It took a year for the Left, led by the New York Times to admit what was long obvious to every one else: John Forbes Kerry was hugely unlikeable. Heck, only HALF his own voters cared to vote FOR him. The rest were simply ANTI-BUSH. Like DUH.

"I don't subscribe to any of these notions that we have to examine our conscience as to who we are," Ms. Pelosi said. "We know who we are. We know what we stand for. We'll make it clearer in the non-presidential election year what the differences are between the Democrats and the Republicans."

Thank you, Ms. Pelosi. Please continue make it ever-so-clear that the Democratic Party stands for:

And I appreciate that you run candidates that the Communist Party has no problem not only endorsing, but actually getting out and pounding the pavement for loony lefty votes for him.

In fact, you guys are just about perfect. I think you should seriously now consider drafting Venezuela's Hugo Chavez, because I really cannot think of anything that could top your last candidate. Perhaps you could let former President Carter serve as Mr. Chavez's main campaign spokesman? And, you know, you might want to float the idea that you would seriously consider bringing back Ramsey Clark as Attorney General and Madeleine Albright as Secretary of State -- that would be seen as a very bold step indeed.
