Wishes for 2005 (Loony Left Barf Alert)

(A) That Americans will set aside issues of color, nationality, religion, and political beliefs and truly care as much about the staggering number of Tsunami-catastrophe victims as they do about the victims of 9/11. And, in light of this caring, that the US's 277 billionaires will leap into the breach left by President Bush's inadequate offering of $35 million dollars of aid (which was a full $33 million short of the $68 million offered by the considerably poorer nation of Spain). (1) That each of the said billionaires will give 10% of their total assets to relief and reconstruction efforts in India, Southeast Asia and East Africa.

Since this still would leave about ½ of US billionaires with a generous $900,000,000 each in assets (surely enough for even the most rapacious of individuals) it seems an eminently reasonable and fair proposition. Given that the remaining ½ of US billionaires are not billionaires, but, in fact, multi-billionaires, with assets ranging from 5 billion, 8 billion, 11 billion and up to 48 billion dollars, a 20% gift of each one's total assets would also be nice. (Credit is due to Bill Gates for having already coughed up $3 million for this effort, though arguably it's a modest donation for someone worth $48 billion.)

After their basic survival needs and emotional needs are met, many small children do indeed believe in the possibility of world peace. They see bountifulness, expansiveness and benevolence when adults see scarcity, contraction and malevolence. Adults lose their feeling of purity, innocence and freedom. Their calcified self blocks their true self.

Let's put tax cuts in terms everyone can understand.

Suppose that every day 10 men go to a restaurant for dinner. The bill for all ten comes to $100. If it was paid the way we pay our taxes, the first four men would pay nothing; the fifth would pay $1; the sixth would pay $3; the seventh $7; the eighth $12; the ninth $18. The tenth man (the richest) would pay $59.

The 10 men ate dinner in the restaurant every day and seemed quite happy with the arrangement - until the owner threw them a curve. "Since you are all such good customers", he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your daily meal by $20." Now dinner for the 10 men only costs $80.

The first four are unaffected. They still eat for free. Can you figure out how to divvy up the $20 savings among the remaining six so that everyone gets his fair share?

The men realize that $20 divided by 6 is $3.33, but if they subtract that from everybody's share, then the fifth and sixth men would end up being paid to eat their meal!

The restaurant owner suggested that it would be only fair to reduce each man's bill by roughly the same amount, and he proceeded to work out the amounts each should pay. And so now the fifth man paid nothing, the sixth pitched in $2, the seventh paid $5, the eighth paid $9, the ninth paid $12, leaving the tenth man with a bill of $52 instead of $59.

Outside the restaurant, the men began to compare their savings. "Hey, I only got a dollar out of the $20," complained the sixth man, pointing to the tenth, "and he got $7!" "Yeah, that's right," exclaimed the fifth man. "I only saved a dollar, too. It's unfair that he got seven times more than me!" "That's true," shouted the seventh man. "Why should he get $7 back when I got only $2? The wealthy get all the breaks!"

"Wait a minute," yelled the first four men in unison. "We didn't get anything at all. The system exploits the poor." So, the nine men surrounded the tenth and beat him up. The next night he didn't show up for dinner, so the nine sat down and ate without him. But when it came time to pay the bill, they discovered something really important. They were $52 short!

And that, boys, girls and college instructors, is how America's tax system works. The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just might not show up at the table any more. There are lots of good restaurants in Switzerland and the Caribbean!

The other day, I read on DU that anyone who makes more than $250K should be taxed at 90% because no one needs more than $250K per year.

COMMIES!

Father Daughter Talk

A young woman was about to finish her first year of college. Like so many others her age she considered herself to be a very liberal Democrat and was for distribution of all wealth. She felt deeply ashamed that her father was a rather staunch Republican which she expressed openly.

One day she was challenging her father on his beliefs and his opposition to higher taxes on the rich & more welfare programs. In the middle of her heart felt diatribe based upon the lectures she had from her far left professors at her school, he stopped her and asked her point blank, how she was doing in school.

She answered rather haughtily that she had a 4.0 GPA, and let him know that it was tough to maintain. That she had to study all the time, never had time to go out and party like other people she knew. She didn't even have time for a boyfriend and didn't really have many college friends because of spending all her time studying. That she was taking a more difficult curriculum.

Her father listened and then asked, "How is your friend Mary?"

She replied, "Mary is barely getting by", she continued, "all she has is barely a 2.0 GPA" adding, "and all she takes are easy classes and she never studies." But to explain further she continued emotionally, "But Mary is so very popular on campus, college for her is a blast, she goes to all the parties all the time and very often doesn't even show up for classes because she is too hung over."

Her father then asked his daughter, "Why don't you go to the Dean's office and ask him to deduct a 1.0 off your 4.0 GPA and give it to her friend who only had a 2.0." He continued, "That way you will both have a 3.0 GPA and certainly that would be a fair equal distribution of GPA."

The daughter visibly shocked by the fathers suggestion angrily fired back, "That wouldn't be fair! I worked really hard for mine, I did without and Mary has done little or nothing, she played while I worked really hard!"

The father slowly smiled and said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

The Modern Little Red Hen
Condensed from Nation’s Business July 1970

Once upon a time there was a little red hen who scratched about the barnyard until she uncovered some grains of wheat. She called her neighbors and said, “If we plant this wheat, we shall have bread to eat. Who will help me plant it?”

“Not I, “ said the cow.
“Not I, “ said the duck.
“Not I, “ said the pig.
“Not I, “ said the goose.

“Then I will,” said the little red hen, and she did. The wheat grew tall and ripened into golden grain.

“Who will help me reap my wheat?” asked the little red hen.

“Not I,” said the duck.
“Out of my classification,” said the pig.
“I’d lose my seniority,” said the cow.
“I’d lose my unemployment benefits,” said the goose.

“Then I will,” said the little red hen, and she did.

At last, it came time to bake the bread. “Who will help me bake the bread?” asked the little red hen.

“That would be overtime for me,” said the cow.
“I’d lose my welfare benefits,” said the duck.
“I’m a dropout and never learned how,” said the pig.
“If I’m to be the only helper, that’s discrimination,” said the goose.

“Then I will,” said the little red hen. She baked five loaves and held them up for her neighbors to see.

The all wanted some – in fact, demanded a share. But the little red hen said, “No, I can eat the five loaves myself.”

“Excess profits!” yelled the cow.
“Capitalist leech!” cried the duck.
“I demand equal rights!” shouted the goose.
The pig just grunted.

Then they hurriedly painted “unfair” picket signs and marched around, shouting obscenities.

The government agent came and said to the little red hen, “You must not be greedy.”

“But I earned the bread,” said the little red hen.

“Exactly,” agreed the agent. “That is the wonderful free-enterprise system. Anyone in the barnyard can earn as much as he wants. But, under government regulations, the productive workers must divide their product with the idle.”

And they lived happily ever after. But the little red hen’s neighbors wondered why she never again baked bread.

I'm sorry, but small children know nothing about world peace beyond what their parents or teachers have told them. Such things are entirely outside their realm of experience. It is one thing to admire their innocence, it is quite another to attempt to exploit it in pursuit of an adult political aim, however seemingly noble.

I cannot think of anyone sane who does not wish to improve the world, but that is a very inadequate motivation for any political doctrine. Both Stalin and Hitler told us that was their motivation and I suspect that both thought they were sincere. Our author has proposed certain actions that, in my opinion, would achieve the very opposite of the justice and peace that are her ostensible objects. "My intentions were sound" is the excuse of someone whose actual results were horrors.

Considering that most of these billionares are liberals, good luck trying to get them to give away their own money.
How much has Mz kerry given? How much has George Soro's given? Micheal Moore can spare a few million can't he?

How about we tax welfare checks? Deduct a small amount for special charity emergencies?

The reality in this Natin is, Most conservatives give generously, while most lefties don't give anything at all to charities, except the elite liberals who support their special NGO'S, which in reality have a hidden agenda of their own, and it's not feeding the poor.
