Fiber Fiber and more Fiber
My grandmother was a RN, physical therapist, she gave this hydrotherapy (colonics) out of her home in our home town. She bought a house in a commercial area so she could. I don't recommend colonics. She gave herself one weekly. She had a history of problems.
In 1980, she died of colon cancer. The surgeon said he picked up her intestines and they fell apart from the over use of the procedure. I have had one in my whole life. I'd rather not after seeing what happened to her. God bless her.
A good colon hydrotherapist will follow up treatment will probiotics to boost back the good bacteria. I believe people need to do it themselves and learn to care for themselves.
It also hurts like hell.
Please, spare me...we do not accumulate 'toxins' in stool, requiring periodic 'cleansing'. In fact, when the fecal stream is temporarily diverted, as in temporary colostomy after surgery or trauma, the sealed-off downstream segment of colon often becomes diseased. It improves after re-exposure to all those 'toxins' in stool.
'Cleansing' enemas are at best harmless quackery; frequent use can be dangerous. I'm not saying that the sufferers 'cured' by enema therapy are not having real symptoms, but that the enema is unlikely to have relieved them.
They have constipation, because no one eats enough fresh fruits and vegetables, nor do they drink adequate amounts of fresh water. If you do those things, there is less need for such procedures. Colonics have been around for a long time. Nothing new about it. Just can't over due it.
I'm starting a business selling bottled Mexican tap water. It'll cleanse your entire digestive tract and help you lose weight.
Too many customers might cause her to get a little behind in her work.
When colon cleaning is outlawed...only outlaws will clean your colon!
(Um, no thanks either way!)
I told everyone my grandmother was an RN and left it at that.
uh, no you can't. Not the same thing.
That makes me think this colon cleansing procedure appeals mainly to uppity Liberal Elitist types who drive Land Rovers with "Defeat Bush" bumper stickers.
Whatever happened to that addage,"an apple a day keeps the colon cleansing lady away?.
Who wouldn't want to start a business like this?
"She traveled to Florida for training..."
THAT's the funniest line in the whole article. No, just go rent any gay tape for $4 - woulda been a whole lot easier
More quacks.
Okay so don't have them.
"I don't doubt lots of people suffer from constipation."
DUmmies immediately come to mind......
Her patients have been heard to exclaim "Ooh! Eee! Ooh! Ahhh! Ahhh!" although none has ever said "Ting Tang Walla Walla Bing Bang."
Another Clymer thread on FR.
