Ickes is a stone-cold sociopath and Hillary Clinton buttboy. He is the bagman for many a bribe. One wonders what scams he is up to.

I hope it is Dean as new DNC !!

DEAN! DEAN! DEAN! DEAN! DEAN! DEAN! DEAN! DEAN!

I was just thinking about this last night. It's the little decisions that effect the greatest change years hence -- a butterfly effect writ large. This may prove to be the 'jump the shark' moment that costs the Dems any chance in '08.

Ickes knows where many a body is buried. He is as dirty and corrupt as they come.

I suspect the Kerry dudes have dirt on Ickes, as Harold was the choice of the Clintons. There has been a behind the scenes battle between Kerry and the Clintons for the control of the lucrative (for the Clintons at least) DNC. Kerry seems to have won.

Roemer is the odds-on favorite right now, as the Dems want a pro-life face to go along with pro-life Reid in the Senate.

If Roemer wins, then the Dems are going to abort their pro-choice wing in order to be competitive again in the Heartland.

Just came across the crawl on CNN

If that's the only news channel you can access, you have my sympathy. If it's not, how can you watch it?

Admittedly, it's been many years since I tried.

Agree with the premise (Kerry v. Clinton), but the conclusion is uncertain. Shrum and the old Left presidential campaign wrecking crew are finished and won't be able to find work in '08 -- and that's the crew the Clintonistas took over from; all they did was run it into the ground at a higher rate of speed.

I think Dean is megalomaniacal enough to run the DNC to rebuild his base as a faux moderate, resign the DNC chair in late '06, and run again versus Kerry and Clinton. Under that scenario, all the GOP needs is someone who can believably finish what Bush has started.

Maybe, but then again, Ickes is big in the 527s. That is where the REAL power lies. Remember, they need the unions and the MoveOn folks for their GOTV efforts. I suspect a LOT of the small-time donors will instead shift to Dean's organization and MoveOn as opposed to the DNC.

"I suspect a LOT of the small-time donors will instead shift to Dean's organization and MoveOn as opposed to the DNC."

The Dems can only walk that tightrope for so long before the 527's and radicals like Dean figure out that they can start an entirely new Party to win in areas like New York and California.

Put another way, two or three powerful organizations like Dean's or 527's or the Democratic Party can only remain in lockstep for so long. There are limits to such competing power bases.

why everyone acts like McCain is a bleeding heart liberal just because he hates bush, of course he hates bush. Bush is the most fiscaly irresponsible president we have EVER had

Did I say he's a "bleeding heart liberal"? No.

He hates Bush? Seems I recall him being alongside Bush just last October and November during the campaign.

Irresponsible? No; you only listen to liberal news sources (which is why you belive what you do). You better check out the spending cuts the Bush Admin has proposed and not where it is being spent.

I suspect your time on FR is short.

"If Roemer wins, then the Dems are going to abort their pro-choice wing in order to be competitive again in the Heartland."

The 'right' to abort anywhere, anytime, any way is a totem of the post-'72 Democrat Party, when the McGovernick's enshrined it as a permanent platform plank.

Reid and Roemer (who I doubt has the base to take the chair) will continue to be patted on the head for their 'quaint' and 'out-of-mainstream' beliefs regarding life, while the rest of the party salivates over tagging the restoration of third-trimester abortion 'rights' to the '08 candidate.

I figured if Hillary was going to run for Pres, she would want Ickes at the DNC .. but maybe not. Maybe she's going to stay with groups like MoveOn, etc., ACT and Answer. If that's her plan .. it a very bad plan.

I think it would split the party and if so .. how would Hillary think she could win with a party split ..??

Curious??

Hillary is NOT stupid. She's probably figured having Howard Dean as DNC Chairman will both consume all his energies into administering and running the party, that it leaves him worn out by '08. Plus it makes Her Highness look more moderate.

I am perI am perplexed sometimes at the actions of the democrats. They are ready to give the head chair of the DNC over to a guy who flamed out during the primaries. A guy who did not win one state and inflamed the hatred of its base and brought out the worst in its activists; which contributed to its huge loss in the election of 2004. Furthermore, his campaign produced a record amount of pledges but failed to actually collect the money. A myth was created that tons of youth voters would get involved in the democrat election. None of this materialized.

Looks like Hillary will let the Deaniacs flame themselves in the next election and then "clean" house for her run in 2008.

Good points, but regarding money left on the table and the youth vote, Dean was not the candidate. The Deaniacs I know thought Kerry was, well, you go into Baskin-Robbins for Rocky Road (Dean) and they're all sold out so you buy the French vanilla (Kerry), but it's really not satisfying.

Sure, Howard brought out the 'worst' in the Deaniacs/DUmmies/activists/goose-stepping Socialists, but that's not perceived as a negative among the Trotskyites. I mean, at the end of the day, the DNC wants their hands on that Dean mailing list.
