Ah, my little friend, how I have loved you. The heft of you in my hand. The window you gave me on a world beyond the confines of where I was at any given time. Yet now ...

This guy is a nut.

Though, I can echo the sentiment. Constant connectedness is not good for the soul.

I thought this was going to be an article about some other competitor beating bb in the market... and that ain't gonna happen for a while.

Drivel? Actually Stanley Bing writes satire for Fortune Magazine. He's trying to be humorous. I'm not sure if he always succeed.

I have the newer Blackberry that he complains about--I never tried the older one. A friend called it a "Crackberry" because the users get addicted to them like crack cocaine.

Ho-HAAH!

Personally, I would like to see the injunction against the Canadian RIM Corporation for US patent infringement enforced to ban all Blackberries from being sold in the US.

You see, I am a technical support specialist, and one of our clients has foisted these damnable Blackberries upon their employees.

Adding insult to injury, they have to be set up using the cursed, thrice-damned Lotus Notes as the email client.

As anyone unfortunate to have been forced to use Lotus Notes knows, it is possibly the most unwieldy, user-hostile application suite on the market today. (Sure, it's great on the back-end side, but what good is that if the average office user is more likely to smash their computer in frustration than climb the Everest-like learning curve that Notes demands?) That is, with the possible exception of the Cisco AS5300 secure dialup networking system.

Imagine adding to the misery by coupling Notes with an untested, unreliable technological nightmare like the Blackberry. You wouldn't like it.

The destruction all the Blackberries in America would cause me great jubilation and happiness. I would tirelessly lobby my Congresscritters for the creation of a new national holiday to commemorate and celebrate the final end of the Blackberry's tyranny over our lives and our people.

/tongue-in-cheek - still hates Blackberries and wants to burn them all like witches

You're certainly one of the more colorful and dramatic of the IT-guys out there ... loved your rant.
