I just started with XM this past weekend, and so far I absolutely love it. I'm still exploring all of the channels it has to offer - I'm a big country and bluegrass listener, but I spent my commute this morning just surfing, and found jazz and blues and old R&B and even classical channels that I know I'll be coming back to listen to. I've got no use for the rap and hip hop stuff, and I think Opie and Anthony are puerile trash, but no one's forcing me to listen to those channels.
I had all but given up on FM radio - just got tired of the DJ chatter and the endless commercials and the same three songs every hour. My listening was pretty much confined to news/talk on AM, and my CD collection. And I live out in the boonies, so AM reception can be dicey, especially at night. With the XM, the reception's clear as a bell. I'm still loving getting to listen to Phil Hendrie on my drive home without fighting through the static. And I won't have to worry about him getting bumped for the God-awful Devil Rays once baseball season starts.
Another bonus with XM - I'll finally get a chance to listen to Laura Ingraham. I've heard lots of Freepers talk about how good her show is, but she has no terrestrial affiliates here in central Florida. Now I get to judge her for myself.
Imagine the number of new subscribers XM will have after seeing those billboards behind homeplate on TV.... imagine the increase in subscribers when FOX televises those same billboards nationwide during the playoffs and the World Series. XM and baseball will go hand in hand.
I've been a subscriber for 14 months now... haven't bought a CD since...not that there is anything decent out there in pop music to buy!!
Ever since Bill Clinton got reelected, the world has never been the same. It's going to take another
"Reagan" revolution to get some sanity, ethics, and honesty back.
I recall a prior story that Stern's home station manager was coming down hard on him when the deal was
first announced, and he couldn't stop promoting it.
Well, given the attacks on the WTC, I would think they should have put America first during war time ...
Yeah, I never really hated Robin, I just thought that she was just a boring tag-along who really had nothing to offer. Howard only brought her up with him because she was the only news-reader that didn't bitch and moan when Howard talked to her during her on-air news updates. She's definitely nothing special.
