Understood. But we've made several large mistakes in Iraq
1) Disbanding the Iraqi Army. We should have made them responsible for security. They had 3 corps of soldiers available.
2) Paying for stuff in dollars instead of the iraqi currency. We shot a large hole in what was left of their econimy whith that one.
3) We have missed many opportunities to create "good will" with the locals because of state department weenies who aren't in Iraq.
These obsevations come from a buddy of mine whose an Air Force intel guy who has spent a lot of time in country.
From a person (John Traitor Kerry) who will not release his military records as I have heard that his first discharge was less that Honorable.
Mr. Kerry is a self-centered, supercilious, self-absorbed putz who shows no respect for US troops in Iraq. But then, has experience in THAT department, doesn't he? Schmuck.
This is a disgrace that a former candidate for President of the United States goes on foreign soil during wartime and trashes our President.
He's not only a sore loser who acts and speaks like a pompous fool he is also a disgrace to this country. By saying what he did he encouraged the enemy in their quest to kill more Americans and attack our troops fighting for ALL our freedoms.
Once again he proves to everyone that he was not, is not and never will be Presidential Fodder.
Hey nimrod, check post 51, then talk to me.
Was he speaking to the troops or the Iraqi provisional government officials or the press. What a Richard Cephalus.
I simply cannot believe this guy after the crap he spewed out during the campaign. I wonder if he'll be negotiating with the insurgents next.
U.S. Senator John Kerry, discusses the state of the war in Iraq with Chief Warrant Officer Donald Hartson, 126th Aviation Battalion, during the Senators visit to Camp Al Tahreer in the Iraqi capital Baghdad, January 5, 2005. Kerry met with Soldiers from his state, asking them what he should tell Congress about the war in Iraq. The troops complained to Kerry that the good work that they are doing is not getting reported in the United States.
Actually I'm suprised he wasn't fragged while he was there.
The purpose was ostensibly to visit member of the Massachusetts Nation Guard--you know--the Guard? That organization that was trashed by Terry McAlliffe and friends.
AHA! It was a meeting of 20 soldiers from Massachussetts.
What a BS headline.
I wholeheartedly agree. I don't give a damn what this idiot thinks in the comfort of his own home sipping some French wine, but to actually stay those things in front of the troops makes me livid.
Maybe politicians need to take an oath like physicians take in regard to doing no harm. Every time he opens his mouth, he does harm to our troops.
The Traitor speaks...sore loser!
And when we all hit our knees tonight we can thank God that this clown was not elected POTUS!
I'll bet the troops were required to leave their weapons at the door for that visit...
Isn't this guy EVER going to come back to work?
There. That's much closer to the truth.
Absolutely. He should have written a confidential report and forward his conclusions to the White House and the Defense Department.
Not only he's demoralizing our troops and encouraging terrorists, he's making sure anything he has to say will be considered political hogwash.
There is a difference between being a statesman and being a politician.
Was Kerry in front of troops when he made these stupid remarks?
Once again, my sommelier was outraged!
There may be particular issues in certain places, but the "good will" efforts are much more than you apparently know of.
I have pictures, stories, and even forwarded E-mails from Iraqi civilians which are in conflict with any notion that "good will" is not being applied over there.
They presented a Purple Heart today to a real Hero with the complete ceremony on the Regis Philbin show this morning! It was aweinspiring complete with the entire extended family and the Commander and Honor Guard with the National Anthem honoring a REAL HERO.

Kerry, "I am here to give aid and comfort to the enemy, since I lost the election - so there!."
Yep, once a traitor, always a traitor.
A leapord cannot change his spots, nor a tiger his stripes...
Now, we all know why Kerry was there.
He had to give back all the $$$ that he didn't use for his campaign.
Well, I think he is not demoralizing our troops cause I think they all know better than that. However what he is doing and saying on foreign soil to me encourages the enemy and if that isn't treason I don't know what is. Seems the Senator hasn't changed much from when he testified back in the 60's. He should hang his head in shame.
I suppose it's hard for the jerk to break a lifetime habit of making bad choices and miscalculations. What a loser!
What a despicable dirt bag.
If he had any integrity he would honer their desire to have all their hard work credited. But he won't because it is not about them. You know he went there to undermine the President. May it blow up in his face.......
Tired of the left lying and accusing the right of imaginary crimes?
Don't be like the Silent Majority in the 60's and 70's

Arrow - who do ya think is paying for this little fieldtrip? Just makes me sick...
Quite true. But my friend told me of several attempts to assist locals (in this case an orphanage) that were nixed by state department personnel who were not there.
He's looking for that piece of shrapnel so he can get his 4th Purple Heart.
He's still running 2004. Does this have anything to do with today's farce on the Senate floor with Boxer and the rest of the walking dead?
The World isn't Perfect, and 20/20 Hindsight is Wonderfully Clear.
I wonder if he truly understands that he lost the election? Seems he's delusional!
This is just so wrong that he does this, this John Kerry - that he would go and weaken the resolve of our troops over in Iraq! The man should be reprimanded or censored for doing such a thing.
Sen. John Kerry, whose seemingly shifting positions on the U.S. war in Iraq plagued him throughout his presidential campaign, came to this war- torn capital Wednesday to see for himself whether the country was moving toward stability or deeper into chaos.
Kerry, who repeatedly charged during the presidential campaign that President Bush had botched the war effort, was greeted warmly by U.S. soldiers in Baghdad.
"I've been visiting a lot places like Des Moines and Green Bay, and it has been great," the Massachusetts Democrat said during an informal lunch meeting with a small group of reporters and representatives of nongovernmental organizations. "But we are at war, and I think you can't really make all the judgments that you need to make without digging in."
He declined to compare the growing insurgency with the one he faced in South Vietnam as a Navy gunship lieutenant more than three decades ago. But he insisted that superior firepower alone wouldn't quell the uprising disrupting Iraq.
"No insurgency is defeated by conventional military power alone," he said. "Look at the IRA," the Irish Republican Army, which fought a decadeslong guerrilla war against the British in Northern Ireland before a Catholic- Protestant power-sharing government was put in place. "It was defeated by a combination of time and political negotiation."
Kerry, who talked with U.S. intelligence officials and Iraqi officials on Wednesday, was also scheduled to meet with officials of the U.S. Embassy and with members of the interim Iraqi government, including interim Prime Minister Ayad Allawi and a deputy to Abdel Aziz al-Hakim, the Shiite leader at the top of an electoral list favored in Iraq's Jan. 30 elections.
U.S. soldiers approached Kerry inside the restaurant of the Rashid Hotel, asking him to pose for photographs and sign T-shirts. The star-struck restaurant manager insisted on serving Kerry the restaurant's specialty, a plate of grilled chicken and lamb.
Later in the day, Kerry met with about 20 soldiers based in his home state, including reservists from the 356th Engineer Detachment and 126th Aviation Company of the Massachusetts Army National Guard at Camp Victory, where soldiers are bivouacked in luxury villas once inhabited by Saddam Hussein and his loyalists.
"They all joked about how living conditions had changed since Sen. Kerry was in Vietnam," said David Wade, the senator's communications director.
Kerry was scheduled to fly on a C-130 military transport plane today to visit troops in Fallujah and Mosul.
The senator said he was more interested in asking questions of soldiers, U.S. officials, Iraqis and even the journalists themselves instead of rehashing the political battles of the past campaign season.
But in several instances, Kerry attacked what he called the "horrendous judgments" and "unbelievable blunders" of the Bush administration. The mistakes, he said, included former U.S. occupation leader Paul Bremer's decisions to disband the Iraqi army and purge the government of former members of Hussein's Baath Party. Both moves are widely believed to have fueled the largely Sunni insurgency.
"What is sad about what's happening here now is that so much of it is a process of catching up from the enormous miscalculations and wrong judgments made in the beginning," he said. "And the job has been made enormously harder."
He added, however, that it was time to move forward.
"Mistakes have been made," he said. "Now, it's a different time and different set of judgments that have to be made. I'm here to make judgments about what moves are available to us." Kerry is visiting Iraq as part of a Middle East tour that also includes meetings with leaders in Egypt, Israel and the Palestinian territories. He said success in Iraq was vital as part of the struggle for wider change in the Middle East.
"The stakes are very important, very high, and not just for Iraq," he said. "You have another election in the West Bank, a set of challenges to Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the region that are quite daunting."
The only thing missing was him sitting on an Insurgent aniti-aircraft gun.
Kerry garbage and lying exposure bump to the top!
