Another good one!!
I vote for Mojo Nixon
Robin Trower, one of the best there ever was.Have you heard Go My Way?He even sings most of the vocals.Sounds as good as the old days, but still miss James Dewar doing the singing.I'm surprise nobody's mentioned Neil Young. He sure can grimmace when he gets down.
That line was a masterpiece. Hendrix was able to do it, but many can't. I've seen some real virtuoso's who bored me to tears, because they couldn't channel the emotions coming out of their guitars, through their bodies. They were wooden, standing stock-still when they should have been pouring the notes out of their eyeballs.
Then there are those who come from wooden backgrounds who are able to emote most effectively on-stage, such as the "No-Power Trio" seen at this URL:

As many groups as I saw, I never saw the Who. Ten Year After (probably 5 times); Three Dog Night; Santana (twice); Vanilla Fudge; Cream; Hendrix twice; Zep once; CCR once; CSNY (loudest band I ever heard); Cactus; REO Speedwagon; Frampton; Quicksilver; Cocker; Jeff Beck; the Tubes; Bread (ugh); Allman Bros (sans Duane); Mother's Finest; Striesand; Avalon; Yanni; Michael W. Smith; Amy Grant; Point of Grace; well, you get the picture.
that should have been post #11
Wow, what a great show.
The loudest concert I ever attended was Led Zeppelin at the L.A. Forum in '77. .....the only show out of the literally hundreds of I've seen that I wish I had some cotton. Ear-splitting loud....painful. I hear a high pitched ring to this day, and it wouldn't surprise me if it were traced back to that night.
Other than that is was a good show. .....although Page's normally long solos were marathons on that night. "No Quarter" timed in at about 45 minutes, if I recall.
I saw Joplin in Hot 'Lanta. I think it was the summer of '68, maybe '69. The years have become fuzzy. Oh no, wait. They were fuzzy then, too. :-)
She staggered around the stage swigging on a bottle of Southern Comfort, spitting the Comfort into the willing mouths of male fans, chain smoking and singing her heart out. I don't know if any fans enjoyed the show but she sure did! Man, what a show that was!
The Skunk. Thats who I would have voted for.
I don't know about the guitar, but the face is OK">
I met Dave Murray back in the early 1980s. Maiden was recording an album in the Bahamas when I was on Spring Break there; we rented scooters and went out to the recoding studio.
Rush in Rio...what a show!
The guy had a heroin addiction face.
Not my kind of hero.
