It's people like you that have to be heard. God forbid someone pay a worker that is (Houston) sweating under 120 heat index at 90% humidity a living wage. Then they'll say well only illegals will do this work. Oh yeah, ask the highway workers and city workers how they do it.

AMEN, AMEN, I voted for Bush But On this border thing he is dead wrong. I believe Bush thinks he is a "ONE Worlder", He sure has a big blind spot.

"A country without borders is no longer a country".

Wonderful quote from Reagan, God Bless His Soul

"America should move most of it's military bases to the borders, where soldiers could help protect our borders."

Fort Huachuca is virtually astride the border and is part of the most heavily trafficked route currently in use.

>I still believe this whole thing is about thwarting a potential Communist revolution in Mexico.<

I am afraid I fail to see your point, Jeeves. The Chinese already have a foothold in S. A. Can Mexico be far behind?
How does the illegal migration to the States keep that from happening there? Also the Chinese can and do enter the U.S. from Mexico even now, just as can and do Islamic terrorists.

The point is that angry, jobless Mexicans are likely to think revolutionary thoughts if they stay home. Let them go to the US to make money, and they are placated - for a time.

I'm not advocating Bush's position - just trying to explain what I believe to be the Administration's thinking. They are gambling that illegals will become Americanized and exert a positive influence on their home countries, and making the rather cynical calculation that closing the border will do more damage in the long run than just looking the other way. And they know that as long as the Democrats keep running far left candidates like Kerry, they needn't worry about any political backlash from their base.

I realize that you are not condoning the administration's border policy. I agree they are gambling that illegals will become Americanized, but they will lose on that bet. Schools, advertisizing, instructions on purchased items, television language choice among are amongn the many reasons Mexicans will not assimilate into American society. Compulsory English is essential for this to happen.

Anyone with a bone to pick with Dubya on this issue should express their opinions by e-mailing president@whitehouse.gov, or FAXing him at 202-456-2461, or writing him at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington D.C.

I've been doing it for over a year now. Doesn't seem to change anything, but if enough people do it....? As I've said before, in his second term he is answerable to no one, unfortunately.
