An internal NYPD investigation has been launched into possible abuse of department-issued credit cards while Bernard Kerik was police commissioner, the Daily News has learned.

Investigators are poring through Police Headquarters computer data for evidence. Over the Christmas holiday weekend, detectives from the Internal Affairs Bureau seized all the computers from the NYPD office that issues credit cards, Social Security cards, driver's licenses and employment IDs under aliases to undercover cops, law enforcement sources said.

The sources say the investigators are studying how the credit cards were used and what they bought from August 2000 to Dec. 31, 2001, while Kerik was police commissioner.

The inquiry marks the third by a city agency involving Kerik's tenure as a city commissioner.

Since Dec. 10, when Kerik withdrew his nomination for U.S. secretary of homeland security citing concerns over an illegal nanny, The News has disclosed ethical lapses involving two simultaneous extramarital affairs, his ties to a mob-linked contracting firm, gifts he failed to disclose while working for the city and questions on renovations to his Riverdale, Bronx, apartment.

I wonder if prostitutes in NYC take plastic. I guess we'll find out shortly.

My guess is that the investigation will uncover the fact that prostitutes and strippers all over the country take plastic.

Freaking amazing - Sandy Berger (AKA "The Pant's Bandit") steals National Security Documents, and because he's on the Dim side, you never hear a whisper about it. This Kerik get a nomination that goes nowhere because he steps out when it turns out there is some dirt on himn, and because he's on the Rep side, they can't let it loose. We'll be hearing about this in the '08 campaign season because they think it can be used to hurt Republicans. The MSM is dirtier than the average cat litter box ans smellier too.

I think that this tells us that the documents Berger stole were very important.

My guess is that Sandy took evidence that the Xlintoon administration had prior knowledge of the planning to bring down TWA Flight 800. This, of course, would be an even bigger story than the FBI's framing an innocent man for Murder in Boston to protect a mob snitch.

Democrats laud treasonous behavior. If I may pat myself on the back (self-satisfied smirk), I predicted the libs would make Pantload Berger into a "Victim."

I predicted August 5, 2004 the libs would do a Resurrection Case on Berger, fellating ol' Sandy, extolling him as an innocent "victim of the VRWC."

Presto change-o. Before you could say September 11, 2001, Berger was miraculously transformed into Secy of State material for Kerry.

I'm sure Sandy properly thanked the Dems for the BJ's.

Why in the world would you assume that the investigation went nowhere or has been abandoned?

My ex husband would carefully work cases for months, one time for two years straight to make sure it was solid.

None of us know what is really happening.

I don't think the case has been abandoned, except for the MSM. My point was that when it comes to digging up dirt on a Republican, the MSM will leave no stone unturned and will rent heavy equipment to do some heavy digging to find out about sex lives, credit histories, etc. When we get a guy who endangers National Security, who happens to be on the Democrats' side, they use the same heavy equipment to bury the story.
