Interesting - but it just pushes up the shorts when one thinks about it - a 'people award' going to someone like that guy - My moans are heard all the way to the gates - :)

Thanks for the info though - Have a good day -

before I went to see the movie, I had planned to go every weekend, as long as it was playing, to show support for Mel Gibson. But after watching it, I just couldn't see it again. But, I would, of course, highly recommend that everyone see it, at least once. It is a very moving film.

In my opinion, "The Passion of the Christ" has already won the peoples choice award ( small letters, big message). Any movie which has been seen by as many people worldwide as this one needs neither plaques nor statues from some presumptuous band of Hollywood idiots. The real people have spoken on this subject. "The Passion of the Christ" is the best motion picture of 2004, period.

Some unusually ‘good’ things on this earth may be spiritually inspired (a guess: maybe .001% of what we humans consider ‘good’) …. and the rest is simply man trying to do his human best (99.999%).

Pitting ‘The Passion’ against the rest of Hollywood’s ‘best picture’ nominees is like choosing a sketch (any sketch) by Rembrandt and pitting it against a ‘creation’ by Charles Schultz or Garry Trudeau in a ‘best illustration’ category. Or taking a vote on whether Mozart’s ‘Requiem’ or Masta Killa’s ‘Last Drink’ is better music.

Some planes were never meant to intersect.

Box office receipts show the real people's choice. "The Passion" clobbered F-911 by more than 3:1 on that basis. So how can F-911 even be considered?

and I bought the DVD months ago and haven't watched it yet.

Me neither. I had it mailed to me, arriving the day of the release. It's sitting on my shelf waiting for me to watch it again.

I will. When I'm ready.

Okay, I just got finished watching the awards show. Most of it, self congratulatory garbage. I literally had to shut the TV down and walk out of the room for the few minutes when they were announcing "Favorite Movie."

(I won't even stain this thread with the name of the mockumentary)

Anyway, I must hand it to the folks who put on this show. They left the best for last. Instead of having his award mushed in the middle of "best crest smile award" and "best reality TV" award, they cut to a commercial, and had the Best Movie Drama award at the very end.

Mel got a huge ovation. I think he was really touched, especially when he said "when you have to circumvent the system" to get an award like this, "this means more to me" than any of the rest.

He ended it with "God Bless" and off he went off the stage.

Good job Mel. The people have indeed spoke.

Sorry I missed Mel. I knew he'd do a bang up job.

I went to bed when Martin Sheen got up there to present the award for favorite film. I left when he said something to the effect that, "...it's great to live in an democracy, even if its only on tv."

I love the way these hypocrites, who make millions in this capitalistic, republic, but then continue to bite the hand that gives them a wonderful living.

I am sure he gushed all over Michael Moore.

My wife said she heard that Mel thanked Moore, and...questioned "why are we in Iraq"?.

She said the news media is all over it here in Texas. Anybody hear this?

That's the last time I saw it...and believe me, I never looked at Mass the same, ever again.

(and that's a good thing)

It didn't happen during his acceptance speech, not at least on camera. Mel didn't mention Iraq, or anything political at all. Not sure where she heard that.

Only mentioned that he felt honored about this award, having "circumvented" the system, lol!

Tell her not to worry, he said no such thing, at least in the awards ceremony itself.

(I got to thinking, perhaps backstage or somewhere, he asked MM the question just to get a reaction...Mel's a joker that way, you know?)

I loved it when Mel thanked everyone in the 'red states, blue states and comatose states..' (probably a funny backhanded slap at Hollyweird for not recognizing how popular his film was going to be)
