Mel Gibson post-award press conference-"Kinship" with Michael Moore

Posted on 01/10/2005 10:33:48 AM PST by bushfamfan

Does anyone have the quotes that Mel Gibson apparently made after receiving his People's Choice Award in saying he felt a "kinship" with Michael Moore and attacking the war in Iraq?

He's goofy A Man who donated millions of profit dollars from the Passion to Children's Hospitals?

A Man who is devoted to family and GOD and has no problems with out of control kids or a selfish sleezy wife.

A Man who helps his entire huge family

A Man who did not critizie one Jewish person who accused him of being a Anti-Semite

A Man who dared to stand up for GOD in Hollywood when no one would

A Man who said he was the first one to blame himself for killing Jesus Christ.

I beg to differ Mel will probaly be the first one in line to get through the pearly gates when most will be down the street around the bulding climbing up a hill to get into heaven

Guess what? I am not this montrous Mel fan. I just dislike people who charge off into the wild blue yonder on a broomstick pony.

Thanks for the entire quote- it confirms my belief that he was talking about their similarities as filmmakers despite their different political beliefs.

"One can be conservative and still opposed to the war in Iraq. "

On this forum? Anytime I've expressed reservations or questions about the war in Iraq, I've been called an anti-patriotic, anti-soldier, pro-terrorist liberal.

I agree with you, btw...

Does this qualify ?? This thread is trashtalking hearsay.

KFI had the clip. He wasn't saying beyond that he felt a weird kinship with Moore because of the media pitting them against each other.

Technically, if you are a Christian, you should be against all war anyway. I see nothing inconsistant here. He made a great movie about a part of the Bible that touched a lot of people. Jesus wasn't a republican or a democrat - I think The Passion should be completely removed from politicization.
Also, Mel Gibson isn't Michael Moore. Moore is a hateful a-hole. I can respect someone who has religious problems with the war in Iraq (include moral convictions as well). Moore wouldn't bat an eye if Clinton had gone to war. I think Gibson would stay true to his convictions, whomever the president was.

I'm with you. So what. He is NOT a liberal, just a conservative against the war. They do exist. That said, Moore is a liar.

You must have missed the part about the Crusades and the concept of "just war".

Christian that prays for his enemies, like Bush? Apparently Mel must thinks he needs to pray an awful lot for Bush due to the reasons he took us to war.

Gibson has always been anti-war. I'm surprised some people are surprised by this.

If Gibson does not understand the reason for the war, it's his problem. Certainly the sources are out there he could access to explain the necessity. It's his duty to seek them out if he desires to understand.

I supported his efforts with TPOTC because it was the right thing to do. He was making a film about my Savior, faithfully, and being unfairly blasted for those efforts.

I have known all along he is considered a "Republican". But, he is a part of Hollywood. I've never known if he's really "conservative", nor did it matter to me.

My only problem is admiration of F-9/11. THAT, I do not respect. I respect what he went through to make TPOTC, but F-9/11 is propaganda. If you are anti-war, I can deal with it. You'd be wrong, but you've the right to disagree. I draw the line at propaganda and so should Gibson. I would consider it unfortunate he cannot separate anti-war thoughts with propaganda. Though I'm not surprised. He is a part of Hollywood.
