Of course they are. But why give them an excuse? And if it was only a matter of time before Saddam's regime fell anyway, what on earth was the point of the war?
It seems to me undeniable that the collapse of a harsh but secular regime has not been in the interest of Iraqi Christians.

Where did he praise the film? He said "he liked it" and then went on to say that he did disagree with some of it. I don't consider that to be praise in the definition of the word.

Pat Buchanan? Is that you? I didn't know you play the cello! LOL

Clinton is just as guilty. But as long as we're in the speculation game. I've wondered if the reason history looks so badly at Neville Chamberlain is because Hitler broke the pact by invading Poland. If he hadn't done that, and therefore starting WW2 by provoking the ire of the other Western powers...the Nazis might have been in power in Germany for a long time to come. Disturbing but possible. First of all Chamberlain's weakness gave hitler the green light to invade Poland, if Churchill had been PM, history may have been different, but we can't speculate on that becuase Chamberlain was the PM at the time.

It's not just the French; anti-Americanism throughout the world was inflamed by the Iraq war.
My preferred foreign policy is one of non-intervention, using the military only to defend the borders and clear interests of the United States. We should heed the wise words of John Quincy Adams and not "go abroad in search of monsters to destroy." If you want to call that "appeasement," fine. I call it conservatism.

Makes sense. Like Clemenza said: "they should have stopped Hitler at Munich. Should never have let him get away with that." (I meant the fictional Clemenza not the Freeper by that name)

re:your post #118 - BRAVO! I couldn't have said it any better than you did. F-11 is a pack of lies! If the left were interested in the truth, all they would have to do is to investigate each and every point of F-11's lies.

No, I'm not Pat Buchanan, though I do subscribe to his excellent magazine
The American Conservative. However, I was disappointed when he endorsed Bush for re-election.

Quite literally, your above sentence could have been said by Neville Chamberlain, just replace saddam with hitler and U.s with British. Quite simply, I will not be replying to any future posts from you that are this stupefyingly silly.

Prop 71 was? It was the proposition in California that was providing state funding for stem cell research.
He did a bit opposing the proposition, it's still online:
Mel Gibson on Proposition 71

Which is in line with what in Europe is called Christian Socialist or Christian Democrat (depends on the European country). It is a social conservative agenda linked to an interventionist or bigger govt ideology. In other words - anti-abortion but also pro welfare - pro nanny state up to a point etc.
In American because we have only 2 parties - these types of Christians get mixed up into each party depending on issues. If a pro-life and pro-big govt Democrat came along - we might have a horse race - remember it was Reagan who forst won over these blue collar - Catholic - Reagan Democrats to the Republican party. Jimmy Carter is a Fundamentalist Christian as were many Democrats before Reagan and Bush.

Am I reading you right, in saying that if he is anti-abortion (or anyone else who is anti-abortion), they are "pro-welfare?"

A fact conveniently overlooked by people who don't want to stretch their minds I've been reading your "thoughts" with interest. You are a smug little liar who conveniently twists facts to suit his own twisted, sick and foul purposes.
You are revolting.

I don't consider that to be praise in the definition of the word.Semantics, schamantics. Gibson liked a movie that slandered our President. The movie was a filthy disgusting piece of BS propaganda. I have no use for anyone who says they like that anti-American garbage. I must have missed the part where said he disagreed with parts of it.

Saddam was NOT a threat to U.S. security.Keep our eyes closed and clicking your ruby slippers, Dorothy.
Your ignorance is noted.
To: The Ghost of FReepers Past
The vicious film is Fahrenheit 9/11, which Mel is a fan of.
