I have to disagree. Favre gets plenty of interceptions every year, but he LOVES the game and it's obvious every time you see him play. He had a problem with painkillers that he developed because of his love for the game and desire to play no matter how beat up he was. His wife is facing a horrible disease right now and there is a possiblity he was distracted. No one can see into his head. The announcers respect this guy because he conquered his own demons, without blaming anyone else for his failings. That is a rarity in life, much less professional sports.

I don't have a take - that is why I was asking. I am not up on the season this year and am catching up. I was looking for fact-based opinions on the two.

Thanks.

3. The NFL players themselves should handle the policing of this. If his own teammates won't straighten Moss out, then the Eagles, early on, ought to put in some 3rd string defensive back with instructions to take Moss out of the game.

His teammates straightened out his attitude after the Washington game and that's one reason he was great yesterday. Perhaps now the NFL will get involved. However, Coach Tice in his weekly news conference today said the Packer fans in the end zone were getting pretty personal with their jibes. And I don't condone Moss' gesture, either, so don't even go there.

But it could have been worse. Moss could have been Ron Artest, right?

And are you suggesting that someone should go out to thug a superstar - or anyone - out of a playoff game? Like Moss or not, that's what he is. You don't put a career into jeopardy like that.

He brings lots of touchdowns, and he also brings a team lots of grief, and he always will.

People, people - Football is ENTERTAINMENT, not a morality play. Randy Moss has entertained me from day one. The mooning incident was funny. Why are so many half-witted sports commentators trying to take all the fun out of life.

ought to put in some 3rd string defensive back with instructions to take Moss out of the game.

Which would be a huge scandal that would get the Eagles fined and suspended from football.

To be fair, I thought it was at least as funny as well as it was offensive.

Based on what I have heard here though, I agree that "thug" fits him well.

Right on the money. I heard scant mention of Favre who made enough bad plays to kill his team. He is truly the unquestionable golden boy.

Randy is the 'angry man' but his behavior yesterday was mostly just funny in my opinion.

The sports pundits have a vested interest in promoting the SERIOUSNESS of sports.

I am a huge sports fan and I believe it is a great vehicle for fostering ideals, and represents artistic beauty in its own right, but the institutions of sports are hardly pure, and theatrical showmanship is certainly part of it.

Unfortunately, a LOT of kids take their cues from these "entertainers".

I don't think the media gushes for Peyton as much as they do for Vick (who has accomplished what, exactly?), T.O., and many others. IMO, they have no idea what to do with someone who has extreme talent and yet does not preen about their accomplishments nor does any attention-getting PR stunts. But then, that's yet another reason (or 3) that I like him.

"The NFL players themselves should handle the policing of this."

That's the way the game has been played in the past (at all levels)...

Interesting question. What would it take for the NFL to remove a team from playoff contention, as is done routinely in the NCAA?

I just read that. I have heard several different versions, but it still comes out the same: Moss is a punk thug with an IQ of about 13.

"Now I want to ask you (like I asked why the poster though McNabb's reputation was not desrved) why do you say Moss is a thug?"

I'll take a shot... could it be Moss's being thrown out of FSU and settling for Marshall? Or maybe it's last year when he tried to run over that policewoman for giving him a parking ticket? Maybe it's the "Randy Ratio" intended to keep a selfish player somewhat content? His surliness both real and percieved? Right up to leaving the field early last week.
If the subject is Randy Moss, I vote thug.
The Browns are talentless, and suck, and I STILL wouldn't take Moss on my team.

"Tom Jackson's prince is McNabb"

I heard TJ's comments last night with Chris Berman and I found them interesting in light of the Rush/McNabb controversey. After the dukies hit the fan he was more than happy to share his opinion and had no problem castigating Rush for his comments. Now, Randy Moss? TJ would rather not deal with it?

Tom Jackson is either a racist, a coward or intellectually challenged. Perhaps a little of each?

I agree, I don't see how you can call it gushing for Peyton when he has broke so many records this year... 49TD passes, and the QB rating record... hell he just threw for over 450 yards yesterday with 4 TD's LOL

Thanks for that information. He is worse than I originally thought. Maybe someone should douse him with gasoline before tossing that match into his hair.

Alot of people on FR blame McNabb for getting Rush fired over the stupid comments he made (it wasnt even a valid argument, successful black QBs? Uhh rush, there have been a few for a while now) and then subsequently, shortly thereafter Rush was later revealed as a drug addict. Somehow its McNabbs fault for Rush's getting fired and the spotlight being shined on his less than illustrious, hypocritical life.

Also, combine the fact that many of them are bitter cowboys/redskins/panthers/packers fill in the blank team that isnt in the playoffs and/or were beaten by the Eagles and it becomes a mania.

I don't particularly care for Randy Moss. But the "mooning" was absolutely hysterical.
