Jerry Springer Tries Talk Radio

Trash TV king Jerry Springer is about to try his hand at political talk radio, saying he wants to be the liberal alternative to Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity.

Talk radio needs "a voice on the other side," Springer told the New York Post's John Mainelli on Monday, explaining that he wants to counter "the Republican noise machine." The TV gabber will launch his three-hour, daily radio show from Cincinnati next Monday, with plans for a national roll out beginning in February on about a dozen Clear Channel stations.

"We'll talk about serious things in the world, but it's going to be fun as well," he told the paper.

Springer said his show will feature "my rantings and comedy bits" as well as "Team Springer" — his TV sidekicks. He'll continue his wild and wacky TV show by commuting to Chicago for tapings.

That's precisely what Al Franken said, and he's failing miserably.

Now, having said that, I await the next trainwreck.

As a non-TV viewer, I confess I've never seen either one of them. But Jerry Springer seems to have a much wider audience than Al Franken, even if they consist mainly of morons.

He might get pretty good ratings from morons, and morons are precisely the audience advertisers love best. They believe everything they hear and buy everything they're told to buy. It could be wildly successful.

Jerry you know women can't show their boobs on the radio don't you? I think that fact might shrink your audience quite a bit...

And the constant "bleeps" will become a little irritating for the dozen or so listeners he happens to get.

Has old Jerry ever heard of AirAmerica? Of course he hasn't, no one has!

But I think he should also remember that Howard Stern is still out there, and still liberal. Besides, most of what makes Springer successful is visual.

Springer on radio? Barrrf! (Not that I would know what his bilge is like)

He'll have to narrate so his listeners will know that the security guards are breaking up the transvestite midget hooker cat fight.

I am so sick of that repeated phrase that Rush needs a Liberal balance. Jerry isn't exactly the first to go down that road...and fail.

Besides, I thought Stern had decided this was his calling. Rather than Rush, his competitor will be Howard. They play to the same base.

I can see it now:

SPRINGER- Uhhhhh, George Bush sucks.

DEAD AIR- (12 seconds)

SPRINGER- Uhhhh, I hope George Bush goes to jail.

DEAD AIR- (7 seconds)

SPRINGER- When that &$$#0!% George Bush goes to jail, I hope he has a big black cell mate named Bubba.* HAAA HAAA HAAA!

DEAD AIR- (23 seconds)

This will be just like AIRror AMERICA with Al Franken.

*If anyone thinks this "Bubba" satire is over the top, I heard this said by Al Franken on Air America (during the pathetic week he was on in Chicago on a puny 1 Kilowatt station before they got their power cut off for nonpayment of bills).

I favor the classics, variations of "My Mom Says I Wear Too Much Makeup" theme...but, there is something to be said for transvestite midget hookers.
