'It is an event so large that the best seat in the house is in space: a massive iceberg is on a collision course with a floating glacier near the McMurdo Research Station in Antarctica. NASA satellites have witnessed the 100-mile-long B-15A iceberg moving steadily towards the Drygalski Ice Tongue. Though the iceberg's pace has slowed in recent days, NASA scientists expect a collision to occur no later than January 15, 2005.'

Maybe it will get the earth back smoothly rotating on its axis. (/sarcasm)
Must be really bored in Ice Cube land...
Save the penquins!
The ice is already in the ocean, for the most part. The ice tongue appears to be connected to the continent, but much of it is already floating as well. But ,yes, ice breaking off a glacier (which is what the ice tongue is) can cause a Tsunami. There was a picture of that happening, or at least of the resultant local tsunami, on a show yesterday about tsunamies. It was somewhere in Alaska.
It will be pandalerium!
The distance from Pharoah's elbow to his fingertip, generally accepted at about 18 inches.
here's a neat image:
>>The B-15A iceberg is a 3,000-square-kilometer (1,200-square-mile) behemoth that has a history of causing problems.<<
>>Ironically, a collision between the iceberg and the ice tongue could make things easier for both penguins and ships.<<
Character reformation or just reaching maturity?
Why should one glacier be immune from damage by another glacier?
I thought we were supposed be selfish and be concerned about damage to the enviroment and humanity.
Here's the new Jan 11th image and weather data from Ross:
*Note the temperatures , just north of Drygalski Ice Tongue
(33 degrees F & 28F) and south of B15A it's at 32 F)
Here's more weather data:
I don't know what to make out of this new NASA report:
*I am thinking, just maybe ??? it's why B15A made it's sudden movemnent more to the North ?* I don't know
