New Error Found in Vote Tally - Oops...never mind [Kiev County, WA]
Seattle times ^ | 1/11/05 | Keith Ervin

Oops — never mind.

Three days after King County election officials explained most of a controversial discrepancy between the number of ballots cast and voters known to have voted, the gap has grown again.

After whittling the discrepancy from 3,539 votes to 1,217 last week, officials yesterday said they had made a mistake.

The number of votes now unaccounted for is "somewhere around 1,800," county Elections Superintendent Bill Huennekens said yesterday.

It's impossible to come up with a precise number, Huennekens said, because workers are adding and deleting names of registered voters as they update the list in preparation for a Feb. 8 special election.

See if I can translate..

"We don't know how many registered and/or fraudulent voters voted in the November election because we are preparing the fraudulent voter registration file for the special election in February."

Why don't they just say, in their best valley girl imitation:

"What-ever...."

To paraphrase the late, great Sen. Everett Dirkson (R-Ill) - "A thousand here. A thousand there. Pretty soon, it all adds up!"

This story is starting to remind of the CBS phony documents scandal. Every day the evidence keeps piling up.

I was on the fence about what to do about this Washington election. I was leaning toward letting it go. THIS cinches it for me. I'm just one person, but this would be it for me. Now I hope Dino pushes it as far as it can be pushed.

>> "many of the unexplained ballots probably were cast by registered voters who failed to sign in when they went to polling places." <<

How could this possibly be. Every time I have voted, you had to sign in before you were handed a ballot. And this was observed by two or three poll workers.

This doesn't pass the smell test.

Same here in Alabama. We stand in line at the machine and are allowed to sign the book only AFTER the person before us finalizes their vote. Then they let us sign the book, enter the machine and vote.

One improvement I would like: When I sign the book, there's a number next to my signature...numerical sequence. I would like the machine to display my "vote #" when I enter the booth...so I could check for myself whether the machine and the book are correlating during the day.

Right! The Dem formula is: recount endlessly, until the Dems get the count they like. Then shut it down and sweep it all under the rug.

I hope something can be done about this election. but no matter what, the Dems have shown their hand, beyond any doubt.

They are a lawless organization, out to destroy the institutions of my country.

Isn't it amazing that the poll-obsessed media have
run exactly ZERO statewide polls on this issue?!

The only poll I've seen was a GOP sponsored one.
I guarantee you, if it were the Dems being "wronged",
there would be daily tracking polls and the national
media would be all over this story.

I heard a great football analogy to what's going on in Washington. The Dems are acting like an offense that just completed a big pass play but it's questionable whether or not the receiver caught the ball. Knowing this the offense runs up to the line of scrimmage to get a play off before the other team can challenge the previous play.

Good analogy. I would add one element.

They've just completed the "big pass" but the referee has his head buried in the re-run camera reviewing the disputed play. Meanwhile, out on the field, the offense runs up to the line of scrimmange....

Even better they run the play in for a touchdown because the defense obviously thinks there's no play. Then they demand the refs allow their "touchdown" to count.
