Oregon.

"A group of liberal venture capitalists are getting together to start their own liberal radio network to counter conservative radio hosts like Rush Limbaugh. They feel the liberal viewpoint is not being heard -- except on TV, in the movies, by comedians, on the radio. Other than that, the message just isn't getting out." -- Jay Leno

Hey guys, have you heard about Janeane Garafolo's new hit movie that's going to save her flailing career. Nope, me neither.

I know they had an outlet here in SF, but I've heard or seen nothing of these bozos since their original big splash.

Guess even in the People's Republic of San Francisco, their pablum is ignored!

Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo have Peaked!<<

I occasionally listen to AirHeadAmerica, and to describe them as peaked, is an insult to molehills everywhere.

Don't spend much time listening to either Air America or NPR but it will be a hilarious battle between the two as they'll both have to fight for the same limited audience. What little I have heard tells me they're almost the same. Remove federal funding from NPR and the sparks will fly.

I disagree. NPR hosts think they're above the fray; Air America hosts are constantly itching for a fight.

Not as suprising as it might seem. WLIB was an "ethnic" radio station before they went Air America. In essence, they chased off all their regular listeners.

And there is already plenty of liberal talk radio in NYC. So why would libs switch from their usual shows?

This was one of my prediction right after the election.

AFter the hype calmed down, Air America would tank before the end of 2005.

"It seems to be thriving here in people's republic of Portland, Oregon."

That's the only market where they're having any luck. The rest of them are flopping like fish out of water, which is essentially what they are.

"how many stations are they on?"

Forty-one, plus both satellite radio services. Actually, 41 isn't exactly accurate. Some of the stations are true AAR stations which air all of the network's programming, others air only a portion of the network's prattle.

Here's an idea, though, of AAR's supergenius business plan... they've got THREE stations in Hawaii, a liberal oasis. And they're tanking there, too.

"Al Franken and Janeane Garofalo have Peaked! Air America!"

Late last year, Air America signed some folks to new, three-year contracts. They only signed Franken and Randi Rhodes.

It's gotta suck when you launch a network that's gonna revolutionize talk radio, then realize that your two BEST hosts aren't any good.

Here in Portland, the AAR station is on 24/7, and when
I can't tune in to Rush, Hannity, Larry Elder etc. I
will listen to AAR. They keep repeating the same rant,
mostly attacking the prez and after a while it gets
boring as hell. I hear very little positive anything,
very little on new ideas or initiatives except more
socialism, gay/lesbian marriage push, and how Iraq was
a huge mistake. Wonder what they will say if the elections
this month turn out to be a success. Oh yes, then they will
harp on how expensive Iraq has been for the taxpayers.
Ofcourse the waste and fraud ridden social welfare system
is never a problem for the taxpayers even though it is 15
times bigger than Iraq.
