Global Warming: Where's My Present? -- * Global warming took a big hit this weekend in the United States as wintry weather stranded travelers, knocked out electricity and caused Christmas presents to be delayed.
Be sure to read the links and view the map here:
What about this "global warming" we keep hearing liberals talk about?
The Kyoto Protocol: Fatally Flawed --
Unless Kyoto has some impact on sunsupot activities, it looks like Bush's lonely, unilateral decision may have been right. This bulletin indicates that sunspots may have been responsible for much of the warming that's allegedly occurred since 1900.Of course, maybe some industrialists are up there fooling around with the sun.
Paducah KY
At least six weather-related traffic deaths -- three in Ohio and one each in New Mexico, Arkansas and Oklahoma -- were reported as well as hundreds of fender-benders. Hundreds more went unreported as overwhelmed police told motorists involved in minor accidents to exchange information and fill out a report later.

A good reminder as to why survival kits with candles, energy bars, warm clothes, sleeping bags etc. are good to have in vehicles in the winter.

It's the end of the world as we know it.Well, I wouldn't go that far- but we sure are having some weird WX down south-- I'm running the AC in my truck today, and normally I'd be bundled up in Wearguard's best to keep from freezing.
How does that old joke go?
Teacher: "Billy, can you spell "weather" for the class?"
Billy: "Uhh... W-E-H-T-H-U-R...?"
Teacher: "Boy, that's the worst spell O' weather we've had in these parts for some time!"

1932: The Year Without a Winter -- Also note Michael Crichton's latest book, "State of Fear", fiction casting the envirowackos as the bad guys (for a change) and packed with data that debunks global warming.
Of course the lefties like the NYT are giving it bad reviews and boo-hooing that he would use his books to "push a right-wing agenda"

But what's the Western USA map about?Quix, you got me- I post 'em, don't explain 'em. I guess there's a spell of bad WX out there that isn't being mentioned.
Here in coastal Georgia, 2 days ago I could not get warm, except when I rode around in my SUV with the heat turned up... today, I'm rolling up my sleeves outside, it's so warm. Weird weather!

Global Warming Making Hurricanes Stronger -- A couple of superstorms come to mind. The Galveston Hurricane, which caused the largest loss of life in the history of the US by a natural disaster, and the Great New England Hurricane, with its 180 mph winds on the coast of Mass.
However, Galveston was in
1900 and New England in 1938. Please keep reminding me about the increasing intensity of hurricanes all the other malign effects of Global Warming.

Here is a thread I put together last year right after 9/11. It contains information on a 72 hour kit, the kit has everything in it that one person would need for 72 hours. One can grab it and run. There is also information there about home food storage, using and storing food all the time.

Is there some cute reason for avoiding the word "Weather"?Not exactly- "WX" is used in aircraft & military parlance, and I thought it a little more attention-getting than the more prosaic "weather."
Teacher: "Timmy, would you spell 'weather' for the class?"
Timmy: "Err, W-E-X-E-R..."
Teacher: "Whew, that's the worst spell of weather we've had in these parts in ages..."
