Two Israelis killed in bomb attack at Karni crossing
By MARGOT DUDKEVITCH

Emergency teams rush to scene of the explosion at the Karni crossing.

A double suicide bomb attack at the Karni commercial crossing in northern Gaza left five dead and at least 10 wounded late Thursday night.

According to initial reports, two suicide bombers infiltrated the area and blew up simultaneously on the Israeli side of the crossing.

Shortly after the massive explosion, gun battles erupted between security forces and Palestinian gunmen.

The two suicide bombers were counted in the tally of five dead, Channel 2 reported.

Israeli security officials confirmed that there are a large number of casualties, but have yet to clarify whether they were IDF soldiers or security guards employed by the airport authority.

Owing to the fierce gunbattles at the site of the explosion, Magen David Adom officials said they were having extreme difficulty in reaching the wounded in order to treat them.

They had thus far evacuated five wounded from the area, but additional wounded were waiting to be treated. MDA officials said that two of the victims were moderately wounded and two were severely wounded. They were evacuated to hospital by helicopter.

Security forces are searching the area to make sure that there are no additional terrorists in the area.

Fatah Al Aksa Martyrs' Brigades is claiming responsibility for the attack.

The organization claimed that they succeeded in sneaking a 100 kg bomb to the crossing. The attack was in response to the assassination of a member of the al-Aksa Martyrs' Brigades, the organization said.

Karni crossing is main crossing that transports food and all equipment between Israel and the Gaza Strip. The crossing was preparing to close for the night as the explosion occurred, Channel 2 reported.

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but doesn't the Karni crossing lead to an industrial park which employs palestinians? Amazing these are the targets of choice, but another reason that once separated, the borders should be closed. Jobs can be had in Egpyt and Jordan I'm sure.

Israel has learned nothing.

The problem with Israel is that it is comprised of decent human beings (even the militant are for the most part decent). Yet the Palestinians (God bless them) are infected by the greatest of evils and their acts are evil by extension.

It is hard for Israel not to project her standards onto this demon-possessed crowd.

Islam is a dangerous medium for reaching out to the spirit world...the spirits that respond to Islam are unclean and hate-filled.

Look at the actions of Islam and tell me I am wrong.

Oh, absolutely. Or jobs for Palestinians in Kuwait or Lebanon, which are two more Muslim countries in which Palestinians have achieved such a notable work record in the past. And their Muslim brothers will fall all over themselves, no doubt, offering the Palestinians good jobs. It's even possible that the Saudis will stop importing Indonesians as servants/workers and (for the first time) accept Palestinians instead.

And pigs can fly, and the moon is made of cheese, and Alice was right about Wonderland.

How is Abbas going to explain this double suicide car terror attack, this time, and the next time, and ....?

Abbas is now leader of an animal with two heads. One head wants the elimination of Israel, the other just wants to go to work and feed the family.
Hey, he's in the same postion we all are...he can't control the islamic fanatics any more than anyone else can, so he plays both sides and one day, he'll fall off the fence or become the target of an assassin.
Unless of course, the 'palestinians' are FORCED into statehood; then they can declare war on Israel if they dare, and Israel will be able to do what it must, defend itself. While the 'palestinians' enjoy refugee status, they are a protected species.
Thousands of UN personnel are dependant upon UNWRA for their employment keeping the 'refugees' in the style to which they have accustomed them, UNWRA is currently asking donor nations to contribute $186 million for the 'palestinian refugees' - how would the UN justify its existence without the PA? Without a crisis somewhere in the world? Pardon me, but I am of the considered opinion, that if the UN could get away with it, they would CREATE as many refugees and crisis as they could. Anywhere.
Perhaps it's fair to say that the arab lobby in the UN finds the situation in Israel entirely to its liking.
The power of the UN compromises us all.
I have often asked myself, is it the UN that is behind muslim immigration to the West? No sane, sovereign country would invite muslims, surely?

Good dog.

Israeli soldiers are seen near the gate of the Karni Crossing between Israel and the Gaza Strip (news - web sites) late Thursday Jan. 13, 2005. Palestinian militants set off a large bomb as gunmen stormed an Israeli base at the crossing late Thursday, killing five Israelis, the Israeli military said. (AP Photo/Oded Balilty)

Yep. The Palestinians, at the end of WWII, were 42% Christians. Now the Palestinian Christians have been reduced to 2% because of the Religion of Peace adherents murdering them, forcing them out and forcing them to convert to their seventh-century death cult.

They intend to do this to all humanity on earth. There is no compromise with these sick animals.

Thanks for the ping weenie...

On one side you have Israel who risks its own troops on the ground instead of flattening places from the air, so they can reduce casualties, at their own expense.

On the other side you have murderous Islamic filth who intend to cause as many civilian casualites or innocent deaths as they can, and will happily use innocents as humans shields so any unintended casualties can be used for their Islamic propaganda.

Allah Fubar.

Memo to Bush, Powell, Rice, etc.:

Pay attention! Abbas talks out of both sides of his mouth and most of the time from another part of his anatomy. You can have a "palestinian state" to your heart's content, and this stuff will keep happening. Time to act like Churchill, not like Chamberlain.

Allah Fubar indeed.

The number of dead is 6 according to latest news.
4 Israeli Jews, 1 Israeli Beduin, and 1 Israeli Arab.

They were working in that place, a place that gives aid to the Plishtines.

If I were the PM, I would have closed all of those "aid points".
As we have seen many times, the Plishtines bite the hand that feeds them.

Abbas, your clock is ticking.

Negative.

Israel will not kill the "peace partner" the US just paid the PLO $20 million to install.

Israel isn't going to jeopardize 4 billion in loan guarantees and aid.

Israel will do n-o-t-h-i-n-g, in strict accordance with history.

I am glad you are an American not an Israeli and have no vote here. Nice of you to tell us how to run our country, though.

Land for peace. Hmmm... like 25 years without a shot being fired on the Egyptian border. Seems to me like it works.

"Land for peace. Hmmm... like 25 years without a shot being fired on the Egyptian border. Seems to me like it works."

Where did the 150 kg of high explosives that just killed 6 Jews come from? The Ashkelon Home Depot?

Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip get most of their explosives and other weapons through tunnels on the Egypt-Gaza border.

So much for your "peace" with Egypt.

See what your sacrifice of Eretz Yisrael (Gaza) and the Jews who live there get you.
