I once got a rash on my leg which I swear was from Bally's gym mat.....I wrote them an email and asked them to get the scummy things cleaned.

Herpes gladiatorum (wrestler's Herpes) has been around forever. This is nothing new. There are rules and guidelines in all wrestling programs that deal with herpes gladiatorum and the prevention of spreading the disease.

The only way type 2 can be spread is sexually

Probably, sorta, maybe, in most cases, unless you are one of the unlucky ones.
It spreads by rubbing flesh against flesh.

Time to go back to the old system of quarentine for all contageous diseases.
