BAYREUTH - Baffled authorities in southern Germany have issued an alert concerning unknown persons who have been sticking small US flags into piles of dog droppings in public parks in Bayreuth.
"This has been going on for about a year now, and there must be 2,000 to 3,000 piles of excrement that have been thusly 'adorned' during that time," said Bayreuth parks administrator Josef Oettl.
The sporadic series of incidents originally was thought to be some sort of protest against the US-led invasion of Iraq. And when it continued it was thought to be a protest against President George W. Bush's campaign for re-election.
Bayreuth police say they are completely baffled.
"We have sent out extra patrols to try to catch whoever is doing this in the act," said police spokesman Reiner Kuechler. "But frankly, we don't know what we would do if we caught them red- white- and-blue handed."
Legal experts agreed, saying there is no law against using faeces as a flag stand and the federal constitution is vague on the issue.
Every time a US flag is flown in France or Germany it is flying over Sh&t.
The worst part about this is that if similarly accessorized dung piles were found in American cities with the (fill-in-the-blank) flag, it would be front-page news in every rag throughout this green earth.
whoever's doing this is,in a big way,the same as the parks appear to be...full of crap!
Germans have that much dog poop left in their city?
no joke, seriously what kind of a city lets that much feces accumulate? (france?)
Oh, man!
Nicely said. I am LMAO!
The flag symbolizes America. The droppings symbolize America's adversaries.
Vague?
Article XII. Dog poop, flags, etc.Um, well, it's kind of not nice to put flags in dog doo, but is it illegal? Well, uh, y'know....
Somebody has way too much time on thier hands....Uh....wait.....it's Germany....Nevermind.
We used to drop something else on Germany.
sick sick sick.
Oh Germany. Land of my forefathers. How sad you make me now. I will not venture to that land. I will not spend a single nickel there. I've always wanted to visit Germany because of my heritage, but NO MORE. My people LEFT that country, obviously with GOOD REASON!
If the Germans want dog poop all over their streets, let them live with it.
imbeciles who are doing this kind of thing are the least dangerous of the wackbrains america should be concerned about.
The flag symbolizes America. The droppings symbolize Germany.
Me too. Frankly, I'm ashamed of my German heritage, and I sure as heck don't advertise it anymore.
I know we opposed you...we tried hard to stop you
Now in Iraq, we're being shut out
And we Germans and French learn what payback's about
We don't like it much
This really isn't funny...we are losing money
So why can't you forget and forgive
Come on USA...how 'bout live and let live
We will even act like we are really pensive
Now you won't give us contracts anymore
You did the heavy lifting...it looks like we are grifting
We know that we are Euro Weenies
Without gonads and spine that description is fair
In both Berlin and Paris...sometimes you guys scare us
We know we screwed up...there's no need to pretend
It's true...Nazis and cowards do not make good friends
Can we kiss your posterior and make amends
'Cause you won't give us contracts anymore
So for our U.N. stunt...please forgive
Would it really be so hard to just live and let live
Now you won't give us contracts anymore
You mean, for example, the UN flag?
(steely)
You got that right. Especially France.
2000-3000 flags represents a quantity of money that says this is a sizeable "progressive" organization.
LOL!!!!!!
But I will admit, for a protest --- pretty good.
So, you're telling me that I can go to Germany and stick small flags of Saudi Arabia with the shahada written on it and it's perfectly legal under German law? Or is it legal only if it's an AMERICAN flag?
How pathetic. Like a child snickering and saying a bad word.
AAACK!
You made me open a Babs page! Now I have to scrub my computer in an acidic wash!
Thats OK, I have a german and french flag I threw into my cesspool. So I guess were even.
Yes, I picked that MIDI page on purpose. :)
300 people on DU have just decided to have their Spring vacation in Germany. The rest have already booked their travel plans to Cuba.
Damn Germans, if it wasn't for us, they would be speaking French.
I'd like to market toliet paper where each sheet looks like a little french flag.
what do if they catch them in the act...uh let me think, oh I know rub their face in it
AntiAmerican Euro-Trash! This greatly sickens me. Disrespectable.
Actually, this entire problem is the work of one very energetic, but America-hating dog, who somehow has access to these tiny flags.
OR it could be the work of a really untalented "earthworks artist".
My dad was stationed in Germany when I was a kid. I learned very quickly to watch where I stepped when in public- if it wasn't dog waste, it was the puke of last night's drunks all over the sidewalk. The European ideal of cleanliness is much different than ours.
German economy and influence is diminishing. Just like their grandfather's, the Germans are in need of someone to hate, someone to blame for all their problems.
there would be no point of prosecuting this guy -- can you imagine going around looking for dog feces; if a judge imposed it as a community service sentence, it would be thrown out for being "cruel and unusual."
Better for them to be in dog feces instead of something really offensive - German or French soil.
"I've always wanted to visit Germany because of my heritage, but NO MORE."
I lived in Germany for three years. It's a beautiful country with lots to see. It's a nasty thing to do to our flag but I don't think the activity represents all of Germany or Germans. I wouldn't cancel a trip to Washington DC just because some people burn flags there... would you? For all anyone knows it could be Muslim immigrants doing the flag planting.
Toilet paper already looks like a French flaf. It's white isn't it?
flag, sorry, fat fingers
Precisely,Mon Dieu!!
You have a point. Thanks for the post.
