he’s about as electable as a pepperoni pizza.

If you had said anchovy pizza, I would have agreed. Pepperoni pizza would have won in a landslide!

Bob Dole ran as Jerry Ford's running mate in 1976 opposite Walter Mondale. After Ford lost that year, I don't think there was ever a chance he would run again. After all, Ford barely kept Reagan from becoming the nominee in 1976, despite the powers of incumbency, and his first chance to run when Reagan wasn't in his way would have been 1988 when he was already in his 70s.

John Edwards did not help Kerry win a single state...he may not have convinced a single voter to vote Democrat who would not have done so anyway. I don't see him as a strong contender in 2008.

Among those not "automatically on board" is Kerry's wife, Teresa, who insiders say has vowed "Never again," as far as presidential politics is concerned.

Thank you, dear Lord, for sparing us from a repeat performance from that...creature.

I don't disagree with any of those comments, but remember, this is the party that gave us Bob Dole (a nice enough guy, but a horrible presidential candidate.) I don't count Guiliani or McCain out just yet.

(Pataki is undoubtedly wet toast, but he's going to be hanging around the early primaries. He's the frontrunner among utterly boring, mostly liberal, moneyed NE Republicans.)

Edwards??? Edwards???? The chutzpah of this guy who thinks, with his experience, or lack thereof, that he is qualified to be President of the United States. Out of all the characters in the last election, this guy scares me the most.

"And considering that Tuhrayzuh holds the purse strings, that's pretty much the end of it."

Not necessarily. Kerry can divorce her and marry up AGAIN!

It's not as though they have a marriage based on love. It's based on convenience and HER money.

Hi Diana,

I really don't think Tommy is viable. For one, he's not very savvy. Look at his "I'm surprised the food supply hasn't been hit yet, it's such an easy target" [paraphrase] departing remarks as Secretary of Health and Human Services. I'm thinking that, in and of itself, is the end of Tommy's political aspirations.

For another, he's a jerk.

Sadly, there was a time I might have considered voting for him for president. But that would have been mainly to get rid of him as governor...

I know, I know. I'm republican, conservative, Christian. Probably shouldn't say such things. Nothing personal, because I can tell you have respect for the man. He just never managed to earn mine.

his 2004 running mate, John Edwards, "is much farther along than even many Democrats realize in putting together his team for '08, planning and getting organized."

A prediction:

Edwards will outlast Kerry in the 2008 primaries.

Edwards, however, will not be the nominee...

She offerred a very warm embrace.

Edward's performance in the debates was pathetic.

He was uninformed and from what I have read, he was considered to be albore's running mate.

Once he got a taste of what could be......he decided the senate wasn't worthy of his talents...and he began his run for the big job.

I have one word for Edwards........LOSER

IF John Edwards runs in 2008, I have the perfect DNC chairman for him:

One who lies, cheats about his military record, listens to fraudulent media, (You're guessing about whom I'm writing? Right?)etc., etc.

The one and only who reports for duty: John F. Kerry.

That's OK, no offense taken. President Bush has his character quirks as well, and he and I don't see eye to eye on all the issues, though I doubt it keeps him up nights, LOL! Time will tell. I'm willing to consider other Governor's as well. No Senators though. Please! We've been through enough, LOL!

He was too dumb to anticipate that there might be an organized attack on his candidacy by the SBVT, even though he debated John O'Neill on TV in 1971.

I would say that he was too arrogant--after all, he knew the media would do their damndest to protect him (and they did not disappoint) as they had whenever this came up in MA. He just didn't count on the fact that it wouldn't end up the same way, since MA is hardly a microcosm of the US of A, and that a presidential, national election is not the same as running an insulated, strictly statewide race in a very friendly state.

He is too dumb to realize that after losing in November his stock within the Democratic Party would drop like a stone.

Kerry thinks just because he got a lot of votes, he's entitled for a 2nd shot at the big prize. What he's failing or ignoring to realize is that the 2 dynamics that were in play that allowed him to get the nomination last time around--supposedly being "electable" and his "war hero" record to offset the dems soft on defense image--has been blown to smithereens.

How anyone ever thought this guy was smart enough to be president is totally amazing.

Well, since the dems believe Bush is a moron, apparently even a bag of nails would be more smarter=better than he /sarcasm.

Maybe he'll grow a beard??

And gain a couple hundred or so pounds?

The "Big Money Boys" in the DNC will never get behind Kerry again. Unless it's to push him under a bus. I've still no idea why McAuliffe chose him and his lush of a wife as the Caucuses wound down.

A Loser is a Loser. John Edwards as "Vice Loser" is even more of a stretch. With his very slim resume and far less money. Should Tort Reform catch hold and punch a huge hole in the ABA's Political (Slush Fund) Coffers.

Jack.

The Dems will coalesce around Hillary. That's who they really want as the party's face in 2008.
