U.S. Copts Association Decries Slaying By Muslim Extremists of Coptic-American Family

Tue Jan 18,10:55 AM ET

To: National Desk

Contact: U.S. Copts Association Communications Office, 202-737-3660

WASHINGTON, Jan. 18 /U.S. Newswire/ -- The U.S. Copts Association express its outrage, shock, and disbelief at the atrocious murder of a Coptic-American couple and their two children in their New Jersey home after father Hossam Armanious expressed "strong Coptic beliefs" to Muslim extremists on an internet discussion forum.

Armanious, a resident of heavily Coptic-populated Jersey City, was a frequent contributor to religious debates in chat rooms accessed through paltalk.com. The 47-year old Egyptian immigrant was known as an opinionated online defender of both his Christian faith and Egypt's persecuted Coptic minority. Authorities suspect the Armanious family's brutal slaying is linked to Armanious' vehement web postings defending Copts against militant Islam and rousing the ire of the internet forum's Muslim fundamentalist participants. A Muslim poster threatened Armanious with retaliation, warning, "We will hunt you down...and kill you."

Armanious, his wife Amal, and their fifteen- and eight-year old daughters Sylvia and Monica were found bound, gagged, and stabbed to death in their Jersey City home on Friday, Jan. 14. All four victim's throats had been slashed. Teenager Sylvia Armanious, an outspoken defender of Copts' religious freedom, sustained the most severe wounds, with slash marks on her throat, chest, and cross- tattooed wrist. Investigators point to the slashing of the teen's cross and the vicious nature of the slayings as indicators of a hate crime.

"Muslim extremists' gruesome slaying of an innocent Coptic family is not only appalling, but disturbing in its implications for the Coptic-American community," said Michael Meunier, president of the U.S. Copts Association. "Since Egypt's exponential increase in anti-Coptic hate crimes, Copts have fled to the U.S. seeking religious liberty and freedom from persecution. That such deadly prejudice has followed Coptic immigrants out of Egypt is deeply alarming, and must serve as a warning to U.S. officials in their campaign against terrorism. The Armanious family members are modern-day martyrs in Islamic fundamentalists' war on Christianity and the freedom it advocates. Al-Qaeda is not only in the Middle East but in New Jersey and we call on the FBI (news - web sites) to hunt down the killers and bring them to justice."

------

The U.S. Copts Association, founded in 1996 and based in Washington D.C., advocates for democracy, religious freedom, and human rights in Egypt. The Association represents over 700,000 Egyptian Christians in the United States.

I wonder if this will have any effect on CAIR's efforts to censor the show 24 for portraying a group of Muslim terrorists???

Oh who am I kidding, if 9/11 didn't shame them into allowing that Muslims can be terrorists, killing one family won't...

me, too..this has the potential to spur a religious war within that community..and beyond..this is scary...chilling..and I am afraid that the gov.will try to sweep this under the rug for fear of the above...it is my understanding that some jewelry was taken, but some was not...Mark Furman said this attack was very personal..and not motivated by robbery...

*Muslim extremists' gruesome slaying of an innocent Coptic family is not only appalling, but disturbing in its implications for the Coptic-American community," said Michael Meunier, president of the U.S. Copts Association*

We should all be concerned and disturbed since we are inundated with these people, thanks to GWB and his immigration policies.

Then let us pray that come it may,
As come it will for a' that,
That Sense and Worth, o'er a' the earth
Shall bear the gree and a' that.
For a' that, and a' that,
It's comin yet for a' that,
That Man to Man the warld o'er,
Shall brothers be for a' that;

... I always thought there was a certain ominous tone to this that belies the superficial optimism.

The mas media will do everything possible to sweep this story of a Muslim hate crime under the carpet.

To speak of Islamist hate crimes is considered "hate speech" by the media, just as chants of "death to Israel, death to the Jews" is considered protected free speech, while reciting bible verses is considered...hate spech.

I likely missed the thorough coverage this savage event must have generated in our wonderfully objective pravada press. C the BS and their complicit urinalists will avoid this--it involves the murder of Christians by possible peace loving terrorist muhammedians. Terrorist acts, when committed by other than Christians, or whites, is found to be a perfectly acceptable activity by every stinking coward in the American news business.

Just no point in milling around waiting for this one to break. No protestations from their women, no deserved gutteral gurgling of mooslims creeps here--move on now justice seeking gawkers.

Oh, and Danny punk boy, you are one Anti-American hate filled vermin. You failed Marine boot camp, and you have been a worthless contributor to the betterment of the human species ever since you were regrettably pulled out of mommas womb. Nice to see you took such a public stand (courage) and have really sought to answer the charges. Keep the faith junior--you do your "profession" proud.

Imagine the coverage if this was a pretty little white family of four. I have a pretty little white family of five but I want any Copts, or blacks or whites or hispanics or asians in this country to know if this happens to any of us -- millions of us are ready to do something about it even if the lamestream media takes a wait and see attitude to even reporting it.

They are coming for us. Relentlessly, with no remorse, over these many centuries they have not been deterred. The message of hate is a powerful one--and our children are very vulnerable.

The message is simple. Stand your ground, or perish along with those you most love.

I am quite certain that had it been fairer skinned family, this story would still be given low priority.

I could care less the color of the murdered family's skin.

They were fellow Christians and assuredly much braver ones than most Christians I know, myself included.

This story is underreported partly because of their profound faith.

The devil always mixes a bit of truth in with his lies.

That's why Islam is so insidious.

The vast majority of followers don't delve too deep into and don't realise how dastardly its teachings ultimately are.

They need to have their noses rubbed in its teachings instead of just listening to their Imams.
There needs to be mass inundation of the truth about Islam in order to break the mass mind control it holds over the average follower.

Still the estimated amount of fanatical followers is breath taking - perhaps 130 million by some accounts.

The story is underreported soley because the victims were devout Christians and the media aren't about to report anything that might spark outrage amongst Christians and unite them. PERIOD

Actually I'm seeing Muslim orgs decying these murders, which to me makes them more suspect.

Such as the American Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee of New Jersey.

Also Jersey City police want to explore every avenue before being forced to totally turn the investigation over to the FBI.

For now they FBI is merely assisting J.C Police but if they deem the murders to be Sectarian, theyll take over command.

Greta replay on on Fox..
Throats and heads stabbed repeatedly..No forced entry. Indicate more than one killer. Victims found in separate rooms, bound and gagged, some jewelry missing, some still there.
Family backing off and letting case proceed...Officials concerned about "religeous war" aspect.
Robbery could be a coverup. Seems like it was personal..an execution. Could it be someone they knew?

There has been extensive coverage of this crime in the NY metro area. It's gone on for several days so I don't see how you can state that it's being ignored.

At this point the cause continues to be speculation with all leads being followed.

Believe very little of what you read in the media until and IF arrests are made.

Someone close to the family assures that the local muslim community has made a concerted outreach to the remaining familly members.

We ought not allow ourselves to be whipped to a frenzy without facts.

There are really several different motivations for a crime. Usually they fall into personal grudges or material greed though. Someone robbing a place and then killing the victim usually looks totally different than a person going into a house with the intent of settling a score.

I think Furhman's using "personal" in that way" and not in the "he knew his attacker" way.
