**A pro-life group is calling on a national boycott of La Quinta Inn, a national chain of hotels, because a Wichita location offers discounted rates for women traveling to the Midwestern city to obtain late-term abortions.**

Boycott is on!

isnt LaQuinta part of a bigger chain of hotels?

From their web site:
La Quinta Inns, La Quinta Inn & Suites, Baymont Inns & Suites and Woodfield Suites are happy to be part of a complete family.

I always wondered what "La Quinta" means, until I discovered that it means, "next to Dennys!"

doesn't this violate the Interstate Commerce clause, by discriminating against guests on the basis of gender (since men cannot have an abortion)?

My family already has enough reasons to never stay at La Quinta. Now we will just never, ever stay there.

Sounds like the rich abortionist is using the motel as a clinic annex of sorts. Janitorial costs would be less that way at least. If the women foot the bill, as it seems they do, what a cheap way for Tiller to operate his recovery rooms.

...offers discounts to stay for the 3-4 day-long abortion procedures.

Sounds like a multi-night stay discount to me, pretty standard across the industry. I know that La Quinta used to offer (probably still does) a customer reward program...something like '10th Night Free', another standard & even that could be construed as a discount.

La Quinta (or anyone else for that matter) can't refuse accomodations because someone is getting an abortion. I think this is a proximity issue.

Another point is that some (or a lot, don't know) La Quinta's are franchisees--that is, not owned by La Quinta. (Some MacDonald's are owner-operator owned also.) Depending on the terms of the contract w/ a franchisee, trying to pull the franchise name could be another nasty kettle of fish.

Buckling to this would set them up as an easy mark for churches/ groups opposed to things like gambling & La Quinta Inns located near racetracks...

I don't ever stay in a hotel that's name starts with "la" or "el" anyway, unless I am traveling internationally... so I wouldn't be staying there anyway.. but I support the boycott.

Translated from Spanish, doesn't La Quinta mean "behind Denny's"

Corporate heads have the mistaken belief that nothing that they do would affect the bottom line. The Wichita La Quinta probably can justify it's participation as it can show the percentage adding to the total gain in monthly income.

They need to have as much light shining on this abhorrent practice as possible. Evil can only exist in the darkness.

It's kind of like offering discounted train tickets to Auschwitz.

The excerpt indicates:
...When they do, the local La Quinta Inn, owned and operated by the national corporate office, offers discounts to stay for the 3-4 day-long abortion procedures...

If this is true, its out of the hands of the franchisee, and clearly in the realm of corporate.

As information.

Why would La Quinta take such a self-destructive position?

Because they didn't think they'd get caught. Busted!!!!!!!!!!!
